HOWARD JOHNSON HOTEL RESORT VILLA DE MERLO

We went 4 days between long holidays, which is totally out of season. The experience was very good. The place , location , view of the Sierras, quiet, connection to the center of Merlo, very good!!!! The overall hotel very well presented. It has a spectacular park, with tennis court, padle, football, some very good external pools, and a great walking park! Inside the covered pile is pretty good (the Jacuzzi would lack a little maintenance). The bar , restaurant, pretty good, reasonable prices for the type of hotel, might be a little cheaper, but it's okay. The games room is good, but away from the main body of the hotel, which in winter (you have to walk 50 meters through the park to get there) is not very practical, let alone if you have young children (which I do not have today, but I know what it is). The spa nice, the facilities well, some a little dated (tvs in the rooms e.g. or showers in the pile area). Notable is the pressure of shower water, beds and pillows are a dream, super spacious rooms with huge windows, and spectacular curtains, great carpets, typical of howard jhonson. Very careful the aesthetics of the hotel. Very comfortable armchair areas. Super comfortable parking. The lakes with fish at the entrance, etc, very nice! Super recommended. The price outside tourist days, expensive but reasonable, instead for long weekend days we were asked a lot!!!! but we saw that they prepare recreation and special things. It should be very nice in summer with usable outdoor area.

We stayed 8 nights in December 2024 and returned in March 2025. The most beautiful thing is the natural environment and that in that period the outdoor pool is warm. This last time we had several problems at check in. The first room did not have the matrimonial configuration we had requested on booking and the fridge did not cool. They moved us to a second room whose safe was not working. After 1 hour of the maintenance staff composing it we asked for change to a third room. After driving 9 hours one expects the room to be in condition and has been checked (of course we arrived at 4 pm, enough time for a good putting in condition). The restaurant we used only in the December stay and was a disappointment, both for dinner and lunch by the pool. What made us come back certainly is outer space. The staff at breakfast are very friendly.

Building lacking maintenance for at least 15 years. Not even the wifi reaches the rooms well. All the very bad service, they don't solve anything. I rescue the park and pool for its size. I do not recommend it because of the value for money quality which is very bad.
