Hotel is very close to the center, about 1.5km, so it is not a problem. Very friendly staff. The cleaning is also OK.
But I went with my husband and they gave me a room with separate beds. I assembled the beds myself, and every day we stayed there, the bed was separated again. That made us very angry.
Breakfast with little variety. I had 1 type of cheese, ham, white and whole sliced bread, some fruits, milk, coffee and yogurt, which for me who am celiac, left me very restricted.
There's no fridge in the room. The room is very hot forcing us to leave the window open to refresh a little, and the weather was cold on the outside. The walls are very thin, to the point that we are talking inside the room to the phone (in normal tone of conversation, without speaking loudly), and the neighbor of the next room complain of the noise.
In the bathroom the hot water tap did not work. No water comes out. We took our hands with the cold water, we turned off the tap and after a few minutes out of the bathroom, the hot water tap released water?!!
The shower was clogged. My husband cleaned it up to unclean it. Bathroom very tight, the toilet is right behind the door. If I didn't take care, I'd hit the toilet every hour.
Anyway, it needs maintenance!

My initial opinion was that it was a quaint hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. However the constant noise overshadowed everything else. Guests talking in the garden until late. I could hear the guest snoring in the bedroom next to mine. Walls per paper thin.

There was a nation-wide 24-hour strike in the transport sector which meant our flight was cancelled and we ended up with two nights in El Calafate that were not planned. Our travel agent found us this hotel so it was kind of an emergency situation and not a place we had booked beforehand. It's a 3-star hotel but I'd say it's more like a 2-star. The rooms are very worn (we had two different rooms, 213 the first night and 219 the second night). Room 219 was slightly less worn than 213. The bathrooms are also very worn.
The hotel is not quite in the town centre but it's an easy 10-15 minutes' walk so it was no problem having dinner in a restaurant in town. (There is only a breakfast restaurant in the hotel).
The staff was very helpful and friendly and sympathised with our situation. In a way I'd like to rate it higher because of that but the hotel standard is just not up to it. It is not a hotel we would normally stay in but with the strike we had to take what we could get. Our stay was quite OK – not least because of the friendly staff and practical location. Just very worn rooms. But if you're on a budget it's certainly an OK place to stay.
