Cambridge Lodge Guest House

I stayed for three days in November. It is conveniently located, with a 5-minute walk from Stanmore Station and a 10-minute train ride to Central. The nearest store is either the IGA, a cozy, slightly more expensive store, or Newtown, so you might want to shop for everyday items in the City. The staff at this lodge are very kind. There seemed to be a lot of people who are staying for a long time. A café-like chair and table are set up next to the kitchen so you can eat and relax. The buildings and interiors are old, but the bathrooms are cleaned and cleaned daily. If I have the opportunity, I will use it again.

We arrived shortly after check-in, the receptionist was lovely and gave us all the information we needed for the building, as well as a tour of where we would find the kitchen and communal areas. As we were the first to arrive that day, we were shown the available rooms and had the luxury of picking which one we wanted which I thought was a lovely gesture. For a hostel, we found the room very nice! There was a large mirror and desk set up like a vanity, a fridge in the room, sink, big wardrobe, TV and the comfiest bed of any hostel I’ve ever been in. We booked a private room and were very grateful as our room had a balcony, albeit, shared. The room was spacious and clean. There at are only 4 bathrooms for the whole hostel, and they are quite modern in comparisons to previous ones we have stayed in. The hostel is very conveniently placed, not too far out of the city centre and a short walk to the train station. My only complaint is that the fridge in the room was very noisy, enough to keep waking me up. Also, when full, the hallways are quite noisy with other guests slamming their doors, I’m not sure if it would be beneficial to have any nigh staff? We would 100% stay here again.

Cambridge lodge was great for a short stay and for what I needed. Very helpful staff and great facilities. The location was excellent and close to great shops, restaurants and amenities. The rooms are cleaned regularly and I met some great fellow guests. Definitely to be recommended.
