Echo Point Motor Inn

Our family of 4 stayed for 2 nights, booking 2 rooms during our road trip from Sydney. The location was the biggest advantage, just a short walk to Echo Point and the Three Sisters, allowing us to easily catch both sunset and sunrise there. We opted for this spot over central Katoomba or Leura, appreciating the convenience of parking right outside our rooms. Having two side-by-side rooms provided us with flexibility and space. The rooms were simple with a garden view, making for a quiet stay. However, the bathrooms were functional but dated, with doors that didn't close properly. Reception hours were limited, so keep that in mind for late check-ins or early check-outs. Overall, we felt the premium we paid was for the prime location near the Three Sisters, not for room comfort.

Stayed here during a heatwave and paid $150 for a room that failed on every basic level. The room was not clean the carpet was covered in other people’s hair, which is honestly disgusting. The bed was two single beds pushed together and you sank into the middle, making it extremely uncomfortable and impossible to sleep properly. To make things worse, the air conditioning started cutting off every hour from around 2am, turning the room into a sauna. Reception was already closed (around 5–6pm), and although they claim to have a “night phone,” it is not manned you’re basically told to be lucky if someone answers. I raised the issue in the morning and received nothing more than a generic, copy-paste apology and was told no compensation could be offered. This place is poorly maintained, poorly managed, and nowhere near worth the price. If you value cleanliness, sleep, or basic customer service, stay elsewhere.

If you look at the photos, you'll see that we ended up in an upgraded room because we found a number of bugs in the room originally given to us. To the credit of the hotel, the room change was immediate and without fuss. We did find it appalling that the original room had obviously not been well-cleaned or perhaps not been touched by housekeeping for some time, judging also by the amount of hair we found on the toilet floor. The room we were finally assigned was large and fairly basic. I wouldn't say it felt clean but we decided to not focus on all the signs of dirt and age. The air-conditioning and hot water worked well, and the bed, while soft, was not all bad. The toilet looked newly-renovated but curiously lacked some basics like sufficient shelves for our own toiletries or hooks for the hand towels. This was the only hotel in our trip that provided an all in one shampoo cum body wash in the shower. The odd design of the glass in the shower did nothing to stop the water from spilling out of the shower area, soaking the bathmat in spite of our best efforts. There is no housekeeping even though we requested for it. The best thing going for this motel is its location. It's less than 5 mins to Echo Point lookout so much so that we were able to visit it both in the morning and at sunset. It's also very near to Scenic World and the motel offers a discount if you book the tickets through them.
