Best Western Golden Age Motor Inn

I arrived just after 5 pm when the office should have been open. The sign on the door said to ring a number if you needed them. I did and got a message that they were unavailable. I was pre booked and found the automatic machine to get a door key. I tapped the screen to start and could not get anywhere. I phoned the number given to get help and got the same response, no answer. I tried again and got it working and got my door card. If something goes wrong then you find all other things that shouldn't happen. First up I found that the toilet did not stop flushing properly when the button was pressed. Next the hand basin tap did not have a restriction on the nozzle and water splashed all over the basin surround. The hand on the tap was upside down and had no markings for hot and cold. It was different to the kitchen sink so it was trial and error to get hot or cold water. The kitchen mixer tap was loose on the bench and turning the nozzle turned the whole unit. The shower only had a rainhood so it was not safe to turn on the water from inside the shower. The shower leaked and there was water all over the bathroom floor. I was there a year ago and it was the same mess. There was a new TV but no instructions for use so unless you were familiar with them it would be very difficult to use the remote to select a channel. It was winter and there was only a summer weight doona on the bed. There was a blanket in the wardrobe but I never use them and did not see it until the next morning. It should have been on the bed. I have had no response to my phone calls, only automated messages

What a little gem, great rooms, nice location - great beds - real milk in the fridge for coffee, large rooms, great shower - worth a stay Just 15 minutes from Canberra and great restaurants nearby, a five minute walk to the city - Great value for Money- even got a free beer !!!

Large group of school children stayed upstairs. Much thumping and jumping, yelling out etc. I’m not a grinch. I’m a Teacher. Lack of respect towards general public. I originally got a good impression, as Manageress was lovely. I wondered why students were placed above. Large facility with other rooms at the back. Not a pleasant stay. And unfortunately there was an insomniac next door who slammed his door and went for a walk every half hour until the wee hours of the morning.
