Gagudju Lodge

Given the remote location, this place is surprisingly well appointed in terms of lodging and eating. There are different options for lodging: camping, row house cabanas, high-end glamping tents. We stayed in one of the row houses and it was quite comfortable. The restaurant is reasonably good even though the food is fairly basic. There are several pools on the property, and it’s a great base from which to explore the Kakadu national Park and to go on a river tour.

Rather stay in the middle of the bush. Toilets are dirty and nasty, 9 out of 10 times they smelt, not to mention the showers hardly drain leaving you standing in water while trying to get dressed. My great grandmother said she could piss harder than the shower heads. Water is also not very hot. The walk to the toilets along to the pool is quiet long, the layout it really odd with random camping areas scattered. This obviously depends on the area you get placed in, but there’s not a lot of architectural thinking lol. Food is expensive af along with fuel, been to a lot more remote places where prices are more reasonable. Like who’s paying $43 dollars for a Parmi mate. I didn’t expect a resort obviously, but some of the facilities don’t meet expectations.

Am staying here now and so far it has failed to meet my expectations. My booking was stuffed up by reservations, i spent 2 hours in negotiations with a receptionist trying to resolve the problem while she threw piddling compensation offers at me, at no time did a reservation or hotel manager come to see me, food so far disappointing, room service arrived at 3.45 pm while we were resting, rooms ok but nothing exceptional to warrant the price. We have a special birthday dinner for tonight…. Booked ages ago…..but nowhere in their system Was asked to do a pre arrival check in… tried to submit it 4 times but it failed. Hoping we wont be too disappointed with dinner tonight but frankly wishing I had booked Cicada
