Adina Darwin Waterfront

A great base for a stay in Darwin. Close to the waterfront and some excellent restaurants

We would not recommend this hotel. This was our second stay in Darwin during this trip. We had stayed in a wonderful Airbnb at the beginning of our holiday before spending a few days in Kakadu, and returned to Darwin and the Adina for the final part of our trip. The hotel is located in the Waterfront complex, which is certainly convenient, but unfortunately we found it extremely noisy - day and night. As I write this, we are trying to sleep and our room is literally reverberating with noise from the nearby bars and restaurants. The hotel itself feels extremely shabby and tired (especially in the hallways, rooms and lift spaces) and is badly in need of some TLC, thorough and regular cleaning and upgrading. The hallways smelled extremely musty and the carpet even had debris on them, and the whole property would benefit from painting, maintenance and some much-needed care. Our room also smelled musty (the smell even penetrating our unworn clothes) and was never serviced during our stay, even though it was promoted as “serviced daily”. We had to track down housekeeping and ask each day for fresh towels and any amenities. The pillows provided were extremely thin and flimsy, but when we asked housekeeping if we could have a better one we were told there weren’t any available and advised to use a folded towel instead! Particularly disappointing given the price we were paying. At around $800 a night, we expected a vastly different standard. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing and highly overpriced stay. Our original stay was in the Wharf 1 building nearby, but facing out to a beautiful water view away from the busy waterfront pool and restaurant/bar area. Still super convenient, but incredibly peaceful and a much much higher standard at slower price.

Extremely noisy. Can't have balcony door open or sit on balcony because of all the noise coming from the bar next to the balcony. 3 star accom at best. Over priced DON'T STAY HERE #137
