Kings Canyon Resort

Comfortable hotel near Kings Canyon. Clean and comfortable room with a terrace. Adjacent restaurant that serves a good breakfast buffet and decent evening meals.

No Internet WiFi Why? Reception said: Too many users at the same time At 3 a.m. there was also no WiFi....

Under deliverys on service and facilities. We stayed in one of their glamping tents a couple of weeks ago and at over $700 a night, even with a premium for being remote this was the wrost place we stayed at in our 3 week trip. If we wanted to cook out own food we had to use the camp kitchen which was 300 metres away, with very poor bbqs. The tents themselves whilst spacious don't even have a toaster in them. Ours also had no where to hang a towel to dry after a shower. As they are all grouped together there should be a camp kitchen or communal bbq much closer which doesn't necessitate driving to cook your food. They are obviously short staffed, service is slow, the only facility to eat at apart from doing an under the stars dining experience was their bar and grill, as their second restaurant was closed. You cannot book a table and if you are not there by 5.30 you will not get a table until the first people start leaving around 7pm. This rush all at once meant a 20 wait to buy a drink and an even longer wait to order food. Why they dont take bookings to stagger the rush on the kitchen is beyond me, especially as other Discovery Parks do, and our experience at those Parks was much better. Breakfast the next moring was poor also, 30 minutes for them to make 1 coffee, and the buffet style food wasnt replenished often enough and there was a shortage of crockery and cutlery. The natural beauty of the aera is stunning, but the experience at Kings Canyon Resort was not. Interestignly we stayed at more than 6 Discovery Parks over the 3 weeks we were away and KC were the only one that didnt ask for feedback or how our expeirence was.
