Boathaven Spa Resort

Our stay at Boathaven Spa Holiday Apartments was excellent. Check-in was easy and handled quickly by the friendly staff who also offered directions and advice. The unit was clean & comfortable and fully equipped for our needs including a kitchenette with pretty well everything from cutlery to wine glasses. It is only a 10 minute walk from downtown Airlie Beach which makes it convenient to the shops, pubs and tour facilities but quiet at night for sleeping. We’ve been numerous times and will keep going back.

We wouldn’t book here: location, cleanliness and reception… The location is a firm walk from the ferry terminal, and located on a hill along a very busy road. When you finally arrive, a steep climb awaits you, as it does every time you head back. The place is at quite a distance of town centre, walking along that busy road which is not lit at night. Darknesses from 19.00 hrs for the moment. The place is in need of renovation, a specially the bathroom where there’s mould on the lower metal parts. In theory all the amenities are there, if you’re happy with their condition, fi. the rusty and dirty toaster. No wit standing, you get a sheet with all do’s and don’t, and the hotel charges your credit card with a steep 200 $ guarantee. Swimming pool in front of the hotel looks enormous on photos but is quite tiny. Not the best option nor value in Airlie beach.

Very over priced for what it is. Was very disappointed for the price we paid. It's advertised as 4 star, and Coral Sea resort is rated 4 star, I have no idea how motels get their star ratings but there's just no comparison. Boat Haven doesn't even come close to 4 star. It's run down, and the spa on the balconies is extremely dangerous. The step getting in and out of the spa is a huge step which is slippery, doesn't line up properly with the glass door and there's nothing to hold onto getting up and down that one high step or getting in and out of the spa. It's an accident waiting to happen. And to top it off the glass door/gate of the spa opens up to the glass sliding door of apartment. It can easily smash while trying to navigate climbing up or down the huge step with nothing to hold onto. The spa also has no privicy and the pool, carpark and road below can see you. We would never stay here again nor recommend to anyone.
