Staff - were helpful and welcoming, except during Sunday morning check out. Unfortunately the bar/reception are staffed by the same person. She was also looking after guests eating breakfast and was run off her feet. Room-sitting area air con would not switch to heat mode. Left hand sink was blocked. Chips in bathroom floor tiles and mold in shower. Bedside lamp broken. Location-easy walking to Roma St, Queen St, Southbank and the valley. Parking-off site at First Pass about 5min walk away. Extremely tight car park, lots of reversing to allow other cars in/out. Hotel charge $25/night. Ok for a winter stay when cosy bar and no pool is needed. Would not upgrade to loft suite again.

I love this hotel. Second time I have stayed here, I believe the first time was as Ovolo, this time as Ode, and it is just as impressive. As soon as you walk through the doors, you're in another world. 1920s building oozing original features and Art Deco class, but there is a fun, retro twist - for example, tape cassettes, film reels, David Bowie plate, bowling pin etc in perfectly placed spots. I was upgraded, and stayed in the Extra Large Heritage Room. It was so spacious, and gorgeous. Block out curtains, and blinds, sofa, large wall tv, full length mirror, mini bar/fridge, coffee machine, desk (well utilised for work), most comfortable bed with ample pillows, large shower, beautiful natural bath products.. Great location in a cool, unexplored part of Brisbane, on the edge of Spring Hill. Easy walk to Central Station (3 mins), and therefore CBD. Luxurious bar area, serving food/drinks - happy hour bar snacks 5-6pm, and good selection of cocktails. I noticed on a Fri night that you needed to have a booking for the more 'glam' part of this area for dinner, I managed to grab a tall table to enjoy my Spring Hill cherry martini (yum!) and Mooloolaba Prawns bar snack ($9). So so good, listening to old time music, with the buzz of the bar and dining area, just loved the atmosphere. Staff lovely. Small but very adequate breakfast included - salted nuts, and the yummiest pastries fresh from the oven. Also bowl of fruit, and barista made coffee was really good. I can't finish the review without mentioning the original lift still in service - amazing. I could go on - much loved stay, and will stay again (if I am lucky!)
