The good thing about this hotel is location it is a quick walk to the Esplanade and city centre. The front desk was helpful at check in and friendly throughout our stay. However, the bad things we noticed on this trip was the cleanliness of the room, it has definitely declined and was very noticible as soon as entering the apartment. The beds were horrible - hard and had sink areas and we felt the springs in some parts of the mattress. The lamps in our bedroom did not work and were broken and our feet were discoloured from the carpet, one of the dining chairs were very unsafe to sit on. The front loader washing machine in the laundry was mouldy and the smell was terrible. In the kitchen the stove knobs were fiddly to turn off safely and the frypan in the kitchen was unusable due to being bent, the tea cups most had chips around the edging and unsafe to drink from. Also on 2 occassions the coded security gate was left wide open and held open by a weight allowing anyone to enter. The decline is noticible over the years in this hotel and have to say for the amount of money we paid for the apartment we left feeling disapointed.

Stayed at Getaway on Grafton for 6 nights. We had a few minor issues that were resolved within less than an hour. Chris was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well equipped. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. We had an excellent stay and would highly recommend it to anyone considering staying here. Reasonably priced very clean and comfortable.

We needed a place for two nights when coming to the area for a funeral. The venue is clean, well priced, convenient to Cairns CBD and places to eat and also eat to get to the major roads, airport etc. The two bed, two bath apartment we had was a great size and worked well. Would stay here again.
