TLDR - This is not a hotel I would recommend to anyone and I'd suggest you'll save money by paying more to stay at a different hotel. Not only is the quality of the hotel questionable but the cleaning staff threw out a grocery bag of ours full of groceries and ~$150.00 worth of goods. Requesting them to investigate the products they threw away Max the night manager admitted on CCTV he saw us take the grocery bag into our room. He also admitted on the day we reported it missing (Friday) that we weren't seen on CCTV leaving with the bag. He then said he doesn't know what to do and defferred to the assistant day manager who works days who he was to brief. She had not been briefed the next afternoon and due to this we had to start report again. Once this was done she deferred back to Max to talk to us the next night (Saturday). When we spoke with Max the he said he has no idea what to do and deflected to the front office manager (Luke) on Monday. Speaking with Luke he again feigned ignorance and asked for another explanation which I obliged. Post checkout Luke sent me 2 follow up emails. The first email said he was still investigating, the second basically says they trust their cleaning staff and under law they aren't obliged to help in summary. Throughout this ordeal I offered them the ability to simply pay for the tablets and ignore the groceries and we would call it even. This was refused at every stage. My other complaints: - The pool has a split liner and is leaking stones and other debris into it - The lobby toilets are covered in paint and ongoing renovations with no alternative - There is obvious mould in several locations - There are dead bugs in several locations through out the hotel - The breakfast service includes overripe fruit, semi stale bread and seemingly microwaved eggs and bacon - There is no sound proofing between the rooms or outside world - Cleaners can't make a bed - The mattresses are pretty dirty and dingy

Great location. In centre of everything. Hotel tired and in need of maintanance. Could hear all road noise. Balcony door did not close properly. Everything needs upgrading. Cleanliness was ok. 2 star hotel at best.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The location is very central, and the room we were given was spacious. However, the 4.5-star rating is higher than the hotel deserves. It clearly shows signs of wear and tear. The biggest issue, in my opinion, was the terrible soundproofing. Noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms carried extremely well. Unfortunately, we had a loud, argumentative guest on our floor who kept us awake for hours one night. It was unpleasant for us as adults and frightening for our 8-year-old child. We could hear almost every word that was being said—or shouted—from the other room and the hallway. We ended up spending part of the night on our balcony and eventually had to give our child noise-cancelling headphones with music. The disturbance lasted from 2:00 a.m. until 4:30 a.m., ruining both our night’s sleep and the following day. The next day, we experienced very little understanding from the hotel staff (with the exception of the housekeeping staff, who had heard about the incident from others and kindly asked how we were doing). I asked whether any form of compensation would be possible, for example complimentary breakfast, but was told that this was not something they could offer because the incident was beyond their control. I wouldn’t have complained if the situation had been resolved quickly, but taking two and a half hours to deal with such a serious disturbance is far from impressive. I’ve been visiting Cairns once or twice a year for the past several years. This was my first stay at this hotel, and it will definitely be my last. There are plenty of much better alternatives.
