Carmel By The Sea

A group of us were staying here across a few levels. The car park is tight if you have a big car but reverse in if you can, especially if you are near the exit. There are luggage trolleys available in the basement which is very helpful. The rooms are huge and it depends which part you are in as to what view you get. We had a huge balcony with full ocean views with a table and chairs to fully enjoy the view. The beds are comfy but they only supply a sheet which I find strange, thankfully there were blankets. There was nearly everything we needed including a laundry and drying rack. Our room also had a number of books other travellers had left so doing a book swap was easy. While we didn’t use the pools they looked great and the bbq area is perfect for group lunch or dinner.

We had a lovely stay (3 generations) in a 3 bed apartment. The apartment had everything we needed and was beautifully furnished. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, however the location was terrific, enabling us to walk everywhere. Close to the Broadbeach Tavern and Oasis shopping centre.

14 July, 2025 I just spoke with the front desk gals at Carmel by the Sea. They are completely in disagreement with us as to the false advertising they are doing for their suites. Here's an example: The advertising reads... 3 BEDROOMS Superior Ocean Views I point out to the gals that: --We have no windows in #20 with ocean views--none! --We have no bedrooms with ocean views at all --We have no kitchen with ocean views --Two balconies have no ocean views at all --A 3rd balcony has a "glimpse" of the ocean through trees To explain this apparent misrepresentation the gals argue: " 'Superior' refers to the quality of the unit.." They are uninterested in this detail which is different: Superior 3 Bedrooms Ocean Views The reality is this: Worn & Dated 3 Bedrooms Ocean Glimpse from Balcony Our 3-bedroom apartment is lacking: --Bedding--only a sheet and a thin blanket (no comforter and no bedspread). --One thin tea towel for drying dishes --No coffee maker --Ancient microwave showing wear --No paper towels or kleenex tissues --No desk or place to write --All pots are scratched and abused --All kitchen knives are dull and of little use --No garbage disposal --No blender or mixer for food & drink prep --Unit #20 is not "stunning" and lacks "stylish decor" --Unit #20 does not have a "fully appointed kitchen" --Cutlery & crockery is limited by prior breakage or theft --#20 is not "nicely updated" and could date from 1993. --The outdoor pool is unavailable due to repairs. --Carmel is not "beachfront" being a quarter-mile from the beach across a large park and a major road. The ocean cannot be heard nor the beach seen from #20. _______________________________________ (Note: Everything in quotes is from the Carmel website). Conclusion: Carmel #20 is misrepresented in many ways which make it a poor accommodation for $495 nightly. The front desk gals admit that Carmel has no 3-bedroom apartments with the "superior ocean views" pictured on the website. But they are happy to lie to your face unless you remain engaged and insist on the truth being told. A sorry tale, IMG_6714.jpeg Carmel by the Sea was built in 1993. It is showing its 32-year age. And the management is anti-visitor and willing to argue. The front is nice; Carmel is a pretty face with a rotten soul. ____________________________________________________ NOTHING IN THE FOLLOWING PHOTOS IS VISIBLE FROM #20 (Photos are from the Carmel webste online). And we are told that the word "Superior" in this ad refers to the quality of #20, and not the "Ocean Views". It's a gross misrepresentation covered up by a clearly false reply.
