Best Western Ipswich Heritage Motor Inn

The room itself was fine, nothing fancy but it had what we needed. The kitchenette was fine too, again, nothing fancy but had enough dishes and cutlery for us and that was really all we needed. The towels were a bit scratchy, but again they did they job. The beds were reasonably comfy and everything was clean, which is really what you need in a hotel. There was a LOT of traffic noise, which, given it's on the corner of 2 main roads is to be expected, but it is very loud. Given the proximity to the hospital, there was also quite a lot of emergency vehicles with sirens blaring as they went past. None of that is in the control of the hotel, of course, and they do have double windows to some rooms to try and dampen the sound, but if you want to open the windows, you are going to get the traffic noise. The welcome at reception wasn't particularly warm, the guy was very concerned that my kids were going to cause significant damage to the room and repeated several times that there was a $200 charge for any damage so "control your kids". The kids are teenagers, and not in the habit of trashing hotel rooms. The lady who also works in reception is lovely, however. I didn't meet her until we checked out but if she had been the one to check us in, it probably would have been a better experience

I had a great stay for 3 nights. I stayed in the queen room with breakfast. A bit pricey but that seems to be Brisbane in general. The room was a good size and bed and bathroom very clean. I was on the balcony room at the rear of the property so I didn’t hear road noise. Sam the owner was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was freshly cooked - bacon and eggs with toast. On Saturday and Sunday I received a continental breakfast pack (good size for breakfast). Laundry room was available for coin payment - there was laundry powder available for a cost per packet. There is a bus stop close by to be able to travel to local shops. Thank you to Sam and his wife for my recent stay.

We were ordered out of our room 20 minutes before the check out time of 10.00. The house keeper came knocking on our door demanding us to leave. She then proceeded to reporting us to the duty manger who called our room and told us we had three minutes vacate the room. We went to the front desk and confirmed that it we still had more than 15 minutes before the cut off 10.00. She however apologised.
