When me and my wife arrived to Rose Gumps Wilderness Retreat, we were immediately surprised. The location and the treehouse Chowchilla are stunning and charming. It is very special to live in the wild in Australia. We both love the nature. We were so lucky to see the Cassowary male with to babies. An unique experience! Everything was perfect. You can walk in the wild, you are isolated, you can go online with WiFi, 4G signal are weak. We met Jess in the reception, she is very sweet, open and gave us a good service. She showed us the rare Rat kangaroo the next morning. That is a very beautiful moment. We will always remember the place, we now have good memories for life. We highly recommend spend some nights there if you are a nature wilderness-freak, you love silence etc. Thank you Jess for your service and kindness. All the best Regards Nadia and Tage

Rose Gums. Location -1/5. Remote and miles and from anywhere. Not sure why people would want to come here. It’s cold and rainy. Poor walks. Woodland with very little animals except at night when it’s dark and you can’t see them. Local falls and walks very poor. Food- n/a. Self catering. No restaurant here. Staff - 4/5. There’s only one person here and he was helpful and nice Facilities - 0/5. Nothing here Ambience -0/5. Nothing here. Room - 3/5. Treehouse with good bed, fire, BBQ, Balcony, washing machine. Overall 1/5. Would not recommend unless you wanted a remote place with nothing to do. Walks here were poor. The waterfalls around here are nothing to write home about. Don’t know why Trail Finders recommended this place. It’s not for us.

Do go. You get the warmest welcome, fantastic rooms, great bath and bathroom, superb bed, loads of coffee, tea, biscuits, cereal, bread and eggs to make you feel at home. And what a home! Amazing views, brilliant plant and animal life around the room and, for us, amazing weather. Dave suggested a great drive to capture a taste of the Tablelands. Just brilliant. Yes, it’s a bit off the beaten path - that’s the point!
