Our room had a pungent smell of mould/mildew which was disguised by a strong fragrance. It was over powering. We asked to be moved which we were accommodated. I asked for a room with a balcony so I could open the doors and was told by the "robot" receptionist it would be an extra $125 p/n as they were at 80% occupancy.??? There are still 20% of rooms left right? I then asked to see a Manager and was told to come back next morning which I did. The lovely girl I saw was very apologetic for the incovenience gave us a complimentary upgrade to an Ocean View Room.. Fabulous. The view was beautiful. This room was clean but still had a faint smell of mould but with the doors opened was OK but a constant juggle to keep the cockatoos out. In wondering around the resort we realised all the rooms underneath us were in dire disrepair and not being used. They were disgusting, broken windows, no walls, wires hanging out, full of mould and should be "roped" off so guest cannot access this area. We just walked into one.. Apparantly, there are about 50 rooms on the resort not being used. The location is amazing, Its on the Whitsundays .. The entire resort needs a lot of TLC . Around near Sunset Beach where the non powered watersport are is needing some love. Abandoned buildings and needing a good clean up. The outside cinema was not used at all during our stay. Entertainment and activities was very minimal. The Living Reef was lovely.. The rainforest walk was nice with wonderful views, Food and drinks was very expensive and hit and miss.. Breakfast was just OK.. Dining room tables not cleaned and dirty plates not cleaned off.. Crows flying around the dining room at brecky was not a nice experience. No problem with noise level as there is nothing to do after 9.30pm. Lovers Cove was beautiful to watch the sunset and have a Cocktail if they opened. If it looked like rain they are closed. Snorkeling was great there also. Staff in the restaurants were good especially in the Infinity.. We had a lovely meal there. Overall it was OK but for the price of the rooms, meals, drinks, ferries it is very overpriced for what we saw and got. Unfortunately until it is upgraded we wont be recommending or rushing back and in talking to other guests they felt the same. The resort is more like a low 3 star.

Five nights on Daydream, made welcome from first arrival, felt layback and nice. Didn’t start too well from there, room allocated was in terrible spot (right on wharf, ground floor & no privacy) but the Manager looked after us and changed to an amazing room. Highlights: 1. Living Reef, just special 2. Rainforest walk, very surprising 3. Lovers Cove for snorkel off beach and swimming, favorite place. Bar from lunch, great sunset 4. Water sports, kayaking with turtles 5. Infinity Restaurant, food up ther 6. Salty Restaurant, from pizza to steak nice (casual atmosphere inside or out) 7. Swimming pools out of this world (swim up bar) BUT COLD 8. Live music at main bar 9. Coffee shop If you’re looking for relaxed (not Hamilton) with access to the Whitsundays this is your place. Some improvements, Breaky is OK but not enough staff and everything could do with a little touch of passion to make it stand out rather then a little dated but the positive way outweigh the minor negatives. I recently had a wonderful experience with my two daughters, aged 8 and 9, at Daydream Island Resort across three nights. The resort itself is beautifully planned on the Island with a section of Rainforest and a walk that breaks the two ends of the resort. The design of the resort has plenty of natural light entering the foyers and communal areas which offers a feeling of connection to the nature around. The birds that wander in and out of the communal areas made for interesting and fun experiences for my children. And the living reef that curves and elongates around and through the resort is just stunning and a wonderful reminder of the beautiful nature of this wonderful part of Australia. The service and the staff at the restaurants, the breakfast buffet, front desk, tour services, cafe, bar and shop were all very polite and professional. My young daughters found them to be very friendly and approachable as well, and they also had very enjoyable experiences at the Kids Club. The food at Infinity Restaurant was high quality fusion Asian and we ate there twice for dinner. Our room was well structured, spacious, clean and very comfortable. We sailed in to the Island with friends and the the ferry shuttle that took us back to the Mainland worked efficiently and was a very easy and convenient means of transport. Overall, we would definitely return, and recommend this Resort to other families with children.
