Pacific Beach Resort

we booked the Superior Beach Front Apartment 2 bedroom for our stay a a couple in our late 50's and my 80 year old mum who had come over from the uk to celebrate. We booked a 2 bedroom superior ocean view apartment. We were first given room 41 which was ok but had NO aircon in one of the bedrooms, which is not ok at this time of year and not acceptable, so we asked to be moved. We were then moved to room 25 and was told this was the only other option. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. On you Website it states a bath which neither of these rooms had. Also only one very small hanging wardrobe in on of the rooms in unit 25. Then to top it off my husband and I were expected to sleep in two single kids bed in a room so small there was only room for one bedside table. We couldn't even be in the room at the same time to change or get ready as it was so small, a complete joke. For over $2000 we expected better. When asked if we could get some clean bathroom towels as we were there for 6 days, we were told we had to wash them ourselves. The pool was not heated as stated either, my mum couldn't go in as it was so cold. The fact you have about 8 beds and ONE umbrella made it impossible to site around the pool and relax, the beds in the pool were covered in grease/green scum from the pool and not cleaned the whole time we were there. On the last day at lunch time I was about to get in the pool when the cleaning guy showed up and was pouring chemicals in and scrubbing the sides so i couldn't go in. The room was updated but the rest of the areas are severely needing an upgrade, for the money we paid it was just not good enough. THIS WAS THEIR REPLY Thanks for your email and your feedback about your recent stay. Our apologies, that it did not meet your expectations on this occasion. In response to a couple of your points; the single beds were made into a double in 41 for you prior to you requesting to move – which is why the beds in 25 were as 2 singles. Yes it is a small room of which cannot be helped and would have been noticeable going from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom apartment. The towels – again our apologies for the misunderstanding, we typically change over towels etc on day 7 of a stay, and as the apartments are equipped with laundries – the staff are asked to advise guests that they are more than welcome to wash the towels prior to the 7th day of the stay if required. The same applies for the basic start up products of toilet paper etc, once those have been used, guests typically purchase any other requirements at the local shops. The pool – as we are in Queensland, pools don’t usually get heated during summer – as they just would not be refreshing. The shade to sun ratio again is a tricky one, as a lot of guests like to sun themselves and don’t want an umbrella in the way and by the afternoon the area is completely shaded. As far as the pool maintenance man adding chemicals, I agree it isn’t ideal when guests are near the pool, however in summer it is almost impossible to find an opportunity with no one there for us to do pool maintenance and keep the pool clean and swimmable. We appreciate your comments that some areas need upgrading and as you would have noticed we are in the process of doing so, in reception and the pool area – however again it is difficult to completely do this and not inconvenience our guests, so we try to spread work out and minimize the interruptions. We do hope that you did enjoy your time with us and especially the wonderful view! I hope your mum had a lovely 80th birthday.

The Resort is right on the Esplanade, handy to numerous eating places and retail shops and just across the road from the beach. They are two and three bed room apartments each with a view of the ocean. They are well equipped and clean and comfortable. The staff were always very helpful and cheerful. They went out of their way to accommodate our group when our flight was delayed.

Stay away - mould, dust, old stinky rooms, drunk and arrogant staff. Unsanitary and unhealthy motel. This is 1 or 2 star motel, rooms are full of mould and dust, see photos. Strong smell of mould and dead fish in all the rooms. Fans are covered by mould so once they on mould transfers to your belongings. Dirty and unsanitary bed sheets, see photos. Rooms are full of bugs. Food leftovers on the floor. When we requested refund, the receiptionists (Kaitlyn Toomey) and their manager (Adelle Elphinstone) were very arrogant, bullied my family and refused to provide refund claiming that it should be approved by their manager who appears to be completely drunk and non-attainable that day. We were defrauded by these people since we paid for 4 star hotel and received 1 star room (all rooms they showed us were the same). Stay away and don't waste your money and health in this hotel.
