My husband & I spent one night here during our Australian road trip. We had a comfortable room with a very comfortable king bed that faced the ocean, which was great, but the balcony was right above the restaurant & bar so it was very noisy with music & people talking when outside trying to enjoy the views & the balcony - thankfully the room was much quieter. The room was decent, not quite like other Wyndham's we've stayed at during our trip, but it was okay. We had a little fly problem around the counter & fridge area for the first little while, but we managed to get that dealt with ourselves. Went for a walk on the beach before supper & upon return were surprised that there was no foot washing station upon entering the hotel area even though it is situated right on the beach - this would be a great asset as no one enjoys sand away from the beach, especially not on room floors. We woke up to pouring rain, so it was great being able to pull the vehicle under the covered area in front of the doors, so nothing got wet. All in all it was a good night & we enjoyed our stay.

We've dined at Castaways a number of times over the years, things have changed recently and not for the better. A few weeks ago we dined with another couple, the place was quite empty with only three other tables used. The menu had changed from our previous visit and so had the prices. Given that it was such a slow night I'm not sure why it took an hour and a half for our mains to come out after the entrees. Firstly mine and the lady from the other couple's came out, and took a full ten minutes for the other two mains to be served. Generally this wouldn't rile me too much but my steak was stone motherless cold when it was served, but the vegies were still hot. The steak, a sirloin I think, looked like it had been cooked in a sandwich press. I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that I paid more than fifty bucks for a poorly cooked cold steak with no table service and waited a ridiculous length of time for the pleasure. Worst dining in Mission Beach ever.

We had a nice, spacious and clean room with large balcony in the 1st floor. Stock. We really enjoyed the view of the sea. Nice courteous staff. Conclusion: Recommended
