Travelodge Rockhampton

Multi storey building with lift, set back from Quay St on the Rockhampton waterfront. Large free outdoor carpark. Our late booked, third floor river view room offered river glimpses but higher floors would have clearer views. The room had frig with small freezer, kettle, coffee maker and hair dryer. Shower was over the bath but had non-slip mat and a good grab rail. We were offered a room with walk-in shower but it was not a river view. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. There is a restaurant on-site and lots of eating choices along Quay St.

We chose this hotel as the only Accor option in Rockhampton. Our room was adequate. Breakfast was adequate. Accor Platinum status not recognised other than a small plate with 6 slices of fruit, delivered mid afternoon whilst we were trying to rest after a 7 hour drive. No upgrade or mention of it even though it was requested by email. The restaurant was closed as it was Sunday and as others have said, try finding somewhere close by to dine. Reception staff said go down to the next corner, that was wrong as there was nothing there. We found a roast buffet but paid $50 each! No bar open at Mercure so no free drink even though there was a fridge with drinks behind reception desk. We were told they were for mini bars only. Why be a member of Accor if you can’t provide the benefits?

Never believe what the photos tell you. Stopped for an overnight stay , booked through Booking.com at least 2 months prior as we wanted a hotel with a restaurant. Arrived early and pleasantly greeted etc only to find restaurant closed on a Sunday. Try finding somewhere in the CBD of Rockhampton that is open ! Thank goodness we found the good old Criterion down the road. The service, smiles, food, plus the manager showed us the accommodation that was available, hence next time we shall be staying either there or somewhere else. Sorry Mercure, but your rooms were mouldy, bathroom fittings were corroded, in a nutshell the maintenance needs to be addressed. Breakfast was well presented but certainly not worth $28 a head. Certainly would not recommend Accor Mercure Rockhampton . Perhaps a little more attention to detail wouldn’t go amiss.
