Outrigger Surfers Paradise

We booked 2 rooms for a short family stay here, expecting the high standards we usually enjoy with Accor. Unfortunately, this property completely misses the mark. From the moment we arrived, our Platinum status was completely ignored, no welcome, no mention of loyalty, just a slow and chaotic check-in. The rooms (Suites) were incredibly tired, dusty, and clearly hadn't been properly detailed by housekeeping before we walked in. To make matters worse, the noise from the street and neighboring rooms made it impossible to get a good night's rest. We frequently stay at other properties like Peppers and Pullman, where the service is good, but this Mantra is a huge step backward for the brand. We will not be returning.

I've always thought Mantras are a middle of the road business hotel. Then I stayed at Mantra Southbank and I was very happily surprised. Not so this hotel. I sent my wife and daughter for a midweek break and I am very disappointed with their stay. The allocated room was not cleaned from the prior guest when they arrived. The beds rolled freely around the room if touched (staff wrapped tape around the wheels to address this one). The hot water only ever reached body temp just - never comfortably hot. The breakfast was nowhere near worth the prepaid money spent - even factoring hotel margins - my wife and daughter didn't even go after the first morning - choosing to forfeit the money spent rather than eat it. Construction noise started before 7am. The duty manager on arrival seemed competent but was fighting a losing battle with his other staff. It was a relatively cheap price (so I thought) for a mid week Mantra on the Gold Coast - it wasn't worth even this.

We had a King Room on the 19th floor which was quiet, very spacious and had a good sized balcony with table and chairs. The hotel has an underground carpark ($25 per night) and is a short walk from the beach, restaurants, pubs, cafes and convenience stores. Breakfast is very good with a wide selection of cereals, bread, fruit etc and a good cooked food offering. This hotel does not have a restaurant or bar (apart from a 2-hour happy hour on Friday evenings) and the room amenities are minimal.
