Strand Motel

The smoke from the smokers in other rooms fill the motel rooms constantly. Very noisy hotel in a very poor area Very shabby around hotel grounds. The room is small but clean I thought I was booking another motel but ended up here by mistake. Not good

Great location, lovely cafe, friendly staff, always an enjoyable stay, rooms not overly large. but comfortable. A very pleasent place to stay

For the first time ever I am having to write a dreadful review, but this motel was the absolute pits! From the check-in woman who appeared from a back room shouting at someone to everything else, there was little positive I could find to say about it. I had requested a ground floor room with parking at the door (as I have very limited mobility) with a walk in shower. However, what I got was a ground floor room, with a broken concrete path to it. The parking was on a level two steep steps above and behind the room and which had a steep drop down in front with no rail or barrier of any sort to prevent driving over it! I then had to manouevre my suitcase from the car, down the steps, along the broken path and around the corner to the door of my room! On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and appeared to be clean. However, the bathroom was quite another matter. The shower had a half wall in front which I could barely get my leg over (what used to be called a hip bath with shower) - NOT walk in by any stretch of the imagination. There was mould around the walls at floor level and overall did not appear very clean. There was no hanging space in the bedroom and I could not check out of there fast enough in the morning! Never again!!! What a waste of a great location!
