Comfort Inn Silver Birch

Thought Accor might have reviewed this place but it just remains sub par. Rooms are poor. Service non-existent. Overall just horrible. Will never return. As Accor gold - welcome gift was two stale muffins that went straight to bin. Welcome drinks - you can only have coffee, other drinks only if you're having dinner there (not much of a welcome drink is it?) and cannot be taken out in a takeaway cup.

We visited Mount Gambier on a road trip and found that a number of the motels were displaying no vacancy signs, so we attended at The Henty Motel reception area which also handles other nearby motels. We found the reception staff to be pleasant but the available accommodation was somewhat limited and we only had the option of a king room which had been recently refurbished. We inspected the room and although we thought it was rather small owing to the lack of alternatives we agreed to take the room at what we considered a hefty rate of $175.00 per night. Once we checked in we found that there was no toaster or microwave available in the room and cooking was totally banned in this so called superior room. Upon closer inspection we found a tiny refrigerator at the bottom of a cupboard. This refrigerator was so small we could not store all of our few items in it. Even worse this refrigerator did not have any type of freezer and as we need to carry medication in an esky with frozen ice bricks I had to take the ice bricks to reception to have them stored in a freezer until we departed. We also found that the small wardrobe in the room solely housed an ironing board and iron and there was only a small hook on the wall of the room to hang your clothes. The available high stool type seating and small bench in the room was totally inadequate for two people. Overall we were very disappointed with this room for the price charged and were annoyed when passing other cheaper rooms which were better equipped some even with sinks and microwaves.

The room very clean, the bed is very comfortable fluffy pillows, towels are soft, the bathroom was amazingly clean , customer service was very nice and welcoming , location close to the stores
