Homebells Guest House

Very difficult to find and very difficult to get ahold of anyone if you cant find it. Once you have found it, it is very close to the train station. Our first impression was shocked, as the outside looks like a very run down house. The place is always locked, (which is good as the neighborhood is sketchy at best), however you cant get in to check in. You must wait outside, raining or not and wait for someone to arrive after you phone the number. I guess if you dont have a phone.... your out of luck. Kitchen and bathrooms are renovated. Bedrooms, hall, sitting area are old and just plain icky. Windows dont close properly, or lock. Back yard and alley is a waste disposal site of some kind. The owner/manager was never seen. A young kid was the "contact" person, and while he was very nice he didnt know anything and barely spoke english, not understanding any of our questions or requests. We had phone messages left for us with the owner/manager that we never did receive. I would only recomend staying here if the rest of London was unavailable.

My wife and I booked up on Friday the 22nd of June 2012 for 2 nights. The rates were reasonable and it was near to the venue we were interested in. Homebells emailed us confirmation of the booking immediately. We made all the preparations for the trip only to receive an email this morning (25th June) informing us that they had cancelled our booking. No reason given. I suspect they upped their prices as they were still taking bookings up until about 1pm today (Monday). We are having to rush around rescheduling everything now. Not my favourite place and I will be informing all of our friends, colleagues and family (approx 300) about our disappointment with Homebells Guest House. Not a very professional outfit in my opinion.
