Ballarat Lodge

Stayed one night, very average room, no electric blankets and the weather was absolutely freezing although the staff had turned an old oil heater on as well as the Split system set on 30c!! Trying to get an even temperature throughout the night was not possible and the aircon was noisy. Bed was okay , bathroom had a shower over the bath with a grotty rubber mat to stand on. Edge of bath was dirty, towels are very very old. The shower over the bath is a major accident waiting to happen especially for older people. Posting a small sign on the wall on the bathroom means nothing. The fridge is very small. The bar was excellent with a great friendly barman. The restaurant food was very good as was the service. Breakfast is very good. Atmosphere good. Due to the room which is badly need of renovating and the old linen I would not stay here again.

We had a very comfortable 2 night stay. Upgraded with our Accor membership to Superior room with King bed. Newly refurbished room. Highly recommend. Spacious, clean, fresh, ample storage space, very good bathroom. Lots of room, heating, bathroom products great quality. Tea & coffee facilities very good. Fresh, good quality linen. Staff very friendly & helpful. We really enjoyed our breakfast. Great variety. Fresh. Evening drinks in bar was a lovely setting. Well stocked bar. Beautiful fire & comfortable setting for winter. No in house restaurant with the Mercure for dinner or cafe serving however a new Sicilian Restaurant not affiliated with the Mercure has recently opened in the last few weeks. We ate there on first night. It was very nice, upmarket. Not suitable for children. For families is the Golden Point Family Bistro & Sports Bar which caters for everyone & only a 5 minute walk if that. Thank you.

Such a mis match of rooms and quality. As a Platinum ALL and Plus member my loyalty was not acknowledged other than 'let me know when you want the free drink in the app'. No advance notice of NO evening meals either. Room with damaged walls - no upgraded room not acceptable. Amenity in room very good. Seems hit and miss. WiFi useless - slow and unuseable for work.
