Best Western Lake Inn

No luxe, no bells nor whistles, and really no ‘soul’, but this Inn suited us perfectly for our brief stay in Ballarat as, yes sure, the room had pretty boring decor - but it had size and cleanliness in spades!!!!! $200 gets you very little these days so to have such a spacious, clean, warm and easily accessible (car park etc) room with a good strong shower means a lot when touring around! And the proximity to the lake - great! We loved both the full walk around the perimeter of the lake at sunrise and having sundowner drinks at the Lake View Hotel. We didn’t try the City Oval pub that is right next door (adjoined) - truthfully we were a bit anxious it might cause noise issues for our stay on a Friday night, but no! Didn’t hear a thing. So I think maybe this unassuming motel could have received a 5/5 for what it was, had they just put a bit of decoration or colour in the room!!

Stayed here on a Friday & Saturday night recently on the recommedation of a friend. Check in was friendly and the room was very spacious. Even the bathroom appeared to be bigger than some motel rooms I've stayed in over the years! Room was well equiped with a Queen size bed, 2 seater lounge, a desk area and a good size TV with all the Foxtel channels. Room was very clean and comfortable. Location was great, close to central Ballarat and a small shopping centre. Also Off Highway so traffic noise was minimal. There is a pub on the corner which was rather noisy inside, however I couldn't hear any noise from the pub from inside my room or the carpark. The pub also serves good meals.

Great location. Room was very clean and well equipped. Staff friendly and had no issues checking in. Only downside was the very firm bed and plastic kettle - time for an upgrade on both of these.
