Stayed here in January in a shared double (private) room with a friend. The room and bathroom were clean and we overall had a comfortable stay. No problems at all sleeping - surprisingly no noise levels. We were out the whole time exploring/on tours and ate out so didn't need to make use of the kitchen, lounge or garden areas. After an extremely long and tiring journey to Australia from the UK I felt like it would have been nice to have had a friendlier greeting from reception - the guy who checked us in looked a little bored and disinterested and didn't ask about our journey. The wifi also wasn't explained well to us on the first night in terms of how to log in and password etc. and we ended up not being able to have use of the wifi for most of our stay. When we went to reception at the start of the day before we headed out we were told to come back later (unclear why - it wouldn't have taken long) so we had to wait until the following morning (ended up being the same guy who finally felt able to spend a mere 5 mins with us helping us to access the wifi). Overall staff could have been a little more helpful and forthcoming. We wanted to know how to get to Brighton Beach for our last morning and asked the guy at the desk about possibly booking a taxi there as we weren't aware of any other way from St Kilda initially. He said something dodgy about calling a mate up to take us there (we declined) before we then found out it was a short walk to the train station to take you directly there by train. It would have been helpful to have been given knowledge of all options/routes to get there. We liked the location of the hostel - short walk to St Kilda Beach and tram stop right outside (although we got to know that this was the slower tram which stops everywhere) or short walk to other tram stop by the beach. Despite the negative aspects experienced (mainly staff-related), I would overall stay here again and recommend it as a place to stay for exploring Melbourne and surrounding areas.

I returned from a trip overseas to a flooded room and needed somewhere to stay quite urgently whilst trying to find somewhere new to live. Habitat was very reasonably priced, pretty clean and in a great location. All of the staff were very friendly, professional and of great help. Due to the current worldwide crisis they had to shut their doors yesterday, but once they reopen and people start traveling again, I totally recommend staying here if visiting Melbourne.

Stayed with habitat to visit melbourne. Easy check in, clean rooms with easy access. Shower rooms are clean and modern. Great events on nightly. Very sociable host Would highly recommend a visit as enjoyed stay
