Crown Towers

Just about the most disgraceful and deplorable dining experience ever. Obnoxious and disrespectful staff, and the cheapest worst food. How the mighty have fallen. A disgrace to the industry. Simple scotch fillet steak, supposed to be 300g marble score 4+. It was 200g full of gristle and probably not Australian beef. Shame on you!!!

We recently booked a villa at Crown Towers to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and the experience was truly exceptional from start to finish. Having known Eunice for over 7–8 years, I reached out to let her know about the special occasion. She went above and beyond—personally calling me, reviewing the booking, and offering us a better rate than what I had originally secured. Her attention to detail and willingness to help made a great first impression even before our stay began. On the day of check-in, we were warmly welcomed and pleasantly surprised with thoughtful touches arranged by Eunice—a teddy bear for my daughter, a beautiful birthday cake, French champagne for my wife, and a personalized note. These small gestures made the celebration feel even more special. The overall stay was fantastic. The Crystal Club experience stood out, with a smooth and quick check-in, delightful afternoon tea, excellent evening drinks, and a truly impressive breakfast spread. The service throughout was impeccable. A special mention to Sham at the Crystal Club, who was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely cared for. It was also lovely to catch up with Eunice in person; she spent time with us during dinner, which added a very personal touch to the whole experience. One night at Crown Towers Melbourne, room 702, close enough to the lifts to hear every single arrival, departure, and ding in between. Check-in took long enough that I considered taking up a hobby in the lobby. Once we got to the room, we were greeted by a prominent eau de smoke, a view of a construction hoarding (city skyline optional, apparently, and only visible if you're willing to press your face to the glass), and a hallway soundtrack of unsupervised school-holiday children yelling and sprinting past on what I can only assume was a sugar high. The room itself has decent bones, good size, big bathroom, lovely Grown Alchemist products but the soft furnishings (carpet, walls, daybed) have clearly seen a few too many checkouts. A beer can sat in the level 7 lift foyer from and survived our stay, and a coffee pod held its position outside our door, both surviving multiple housekeeping passes completely unscathed. Impressive persistence, honestly. We flagged all this by email at 3pm. My husband replied to a follow-up text within the half hour as there was no way anyone in the lobby was picking up the phone (I tried for twenty minutes) The hotel called back at 7:30pm two further calls asking for a duty manager to callback and waiting 90mins from the original call. By this which relocating rooms was no longer worth the effort for a single night. For context, the room category we'd booked goes up to floor 18. We were on floor 7. Nobody offered to move us at check-in, which feels like the kind of thing a five-star property should think to do before the guest has to ask. The make-good on offer: a complimentary late check-out (genuinely appreciated) and a category upgrade…...on a future paid stay, subject to availability at check in. Kind gesture, wrong stay. On the plus side: the pool is genuinely nice, if you can find a daybed during school holidays and don't mind swimming among what appeared to be an entirely unsupervised junior swim squad. The precinct has no shortage of good food and entertainment nearby, which is more than can be said for the room's soundproofing. Would I stay again? With as many five-star options as Melbourne has to offer, I don't think this one's earned a repeat booking.
