We stayed in a Suite. Central Air conditioning broken. Portable, extremely noisy portable unit in room. Bedding, comforter was stained and marked. Room odour was stale. Breakfast was appalling. Obviously precooked and assembled. Staff curt and pushy. Removing items from table before we were finished. It was 9am. Breakfast ceases at 10am. Tea and Coffee not hot. Part of the Windsor experience is to enjoy a fresh breakfast. Not a fast food kind of meal. Disappointed.

I visited the hotel in May 2026 for business. Arrived at 6 pm on a weeknight. Nobody at the front door to welcome guests or provide assistance. “Trainee” at front desk checking in guests — trying hard to be pleasant and polite but fell well short of the expected standard of customer service for a hotel of this purported calibre. Dark, dimly lit corridors. Lift controls which are impossible to operate (straight from the 60s with no modernisation or consideration towards access for disabled or those with low vision). The room was simply awful — confronted by a powerful smell of bleach (yes, bleach) upon opening the door. The odour was so strong (I dared not investigate what it was trying to cover up) that it was not possible to stay in the room for more than a few minutes. The desk was full of scratches and hand prints, and what appeared to be the greasy remains of the previous occupant’s take away. The room heating control appears to have been dropped and cracked. A random coat hanger was hanging off one of the picture frames. I could have asked for a different room, but my impression of the hotel was ruined. The front desk was clearly too busy taking phone calls and no other staff were available to help. I walked straight out and booked another nearby hotel which served my needs very well. By any objective measure, this is an unacceptable standard for a budget hotel, let alone The Windsor. This was no doubt once upon a time a charming, historic and well presented hotel with impeccable service and experienced staff. Not any more. I will request that my company avoid booking this hotel and will recommend that my colleagues do the same.

My husband and I stayed overnight together. The front desk was really nice, but the restaurant was awful at breakfast. First of all, I told the person who brought the coffee to the next seat that I wanted to order because they didn't come to pick up the order easily, and our person in charge? I thought I had already heard the order. Then I asked a man (a little higher up) for a second cup of coffee, only to be told later. Bread and water were considered for the other seats, but we were through. It's a shame because the front desk was so responsive. I also wanted to share it in English, so when I used the translation function, I was sorry to hear back from TripAdvisor that this comment could not be posted.
