Palm Resort

Affordable accommodation , great location

We stayed at the Palm Resort during our visit to Kalbarri and, at first glance, it brought back memories of the old British sitcom Hi-de-Hi!—a holiday resort with plenty of character and a slightly nostalgic feel. After driving through the entrance, you check in at reception, collect your key, and then drive through the resort to your allocated apartment, where parking is available nearby. As with many accommodation options in Australia, the apartments are self-contained and include a small kitchenette, making them ideal for longer stays. The resort is showing its age in places and could benefit from some refurbishment, but it was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with toiletries and other essentials. What it may lack in modern styling, it makes up for in atmosphere and surroundings. One of the highlights of our stay was the resident kangaroos, which wander freely around the resort grounds. There's even a feeding station, giving guests a wonderful opportunity to see them up close. The biggest disappointment was the Wi-Fi, which was unreliable throughout our stay. In the end, we had to rely on mobile data, which added to our costs. Kalbarri itself was a pleasant surprise. For a relatively small town, there is a good choice of cafés and restaurants, and the amount of new construction suggests the area is continuing to grow and attract investment. Overall, the Palm Resort provided a comfortable base from which to explore the area. If you're visiting Kalbarri, a trip to Kalbarri National Park is an absolute must—the scenery alone makes the journey worthwhile.

We had a great time in this friendly motel with excellent value for money. The room was very clean and well equipped, as well as the nice bathroom. As in the best motels, we were able to park our car next to the door of our room. Don't forget to book if you want to dine in one of the restaurants nearby as the restaurant located on the hotel's premises operates in limited numbers, without a bar, but with the possibility to bring its drinks.
