Arte Hotel Krems

Hotel near the university. A little far from the central town. Breakfast mediocre. Rooms ok and modern furnishings. Bus departs nearby

Minimalist and functional hotel. The room I was assigned, despite the smoking ban, had a strong cigarette smell (my colleague's, no). The location is relatively convenient to walk to the historic center (15 minutes) and is located in front of the university campus. Fast and courteous check in/out. Furnishing is essential: in one room you will find the double bed (comfortable), the desk and a chair, the bathroom and shower, the wardrobe. The toilet is in a separate microscopic closet. Spaces are adequate, you move well. My room was quiet and sufficiently heated. Cleaning okay. Mention of praise for breakfast: from 7am onwards you will find many varieties of sweet, savoury and drinks. And the coffee is not bad (it is Italian). The garage (for a fee) is just below, convenient.

This hotel was very disappointing. It is advertised as 4 star, it is definitely not! It is very basic and when we arrived we thought it was student accommodation that was perhaps being used out of season. The room was basic and the shower was filthy (see photo) The shower room is open plan to the room, so absolutely no privacy if you are sharing, and also makes the room even warmer in the summer season. The floor tiles in the shower room are black, which, I personally don’t like as I believe it hides poor quality cleaning. When I turned the shower on I could see the water glistening on something on the floor, when I started wiping I found the whole floor covered in hair, it was absolutely disgusting! I ended up cleaning the whole floor before using the shower. The AC unit seemed to be making the noise of a working unit, but no cool air. Thank goodness we were only here one night! I would not recommend
