I am writing this review regarding my reservation at Vienna City Apartments Unteres Belvedere in Vienna for February 20–22. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my trip one day before arrival due to my flight being canceled because of severe weather conditions. This was an unexpected and unavoidable situation. I contacted the property immediately, explained the circumstances, and kindly requested either the possibility to reschedule for a later date or at least a partial refund. The owner refused any discussion and simply advised me to “contact my insurance,”. I found this response dismissive and lacking basic understanding, especially given that the cancellation was due to force majeure circumstances beyond my control. What concerns me most is that after my cancellation, the property was immediately made available again for the same dates and them rented. This indicates that the apartment was not blocked exclusively and could potentially be re-rented. In such a case, keeping the full payment would not reflect an actual financial loss but rather result in double compensation. Additionally, prior to cancellation, I was informed that a €200 fee could apply in case of extra mess due to traveling with children. However, when I requested a reasonable discussion about partial reimbursement, my message was dismissed without consideration. I am disappointed with the lack of flexibility and professionalism.

If you love art, you will adore the collection of paintings inside. Gustav Klimt’s artwork is a must see, especially “The Kiss”! Also you may admire the royal apartments with the spacious rooms and the classic decoration

We being avid travellers, we mostly enjoy staying in well-established hotels offering all essential facilities including breakfast. However, considering we would be travelling with our little one here on, we thought we’ll give ‘apartment stay’ a try at Vienna; more so, considering the convenience it offers when it comes to preparing infant food and extra space for infant to play around – To be honest, although the apartment was neat and well located, our experience was “so-so” (I mean, not exactly what you call “best”)! To start with, the process of obtaining our keys was easy; although we initially had a bit of trouble unlocking the doors. The access area to our apartment was untidy, dark (and you can call it dingy at times) – But once you entered the apartment, the apart was clean and well maintained – It was a refurbished flat in an old building. The apartment is about 10 minutes’ drive to main station and 10 minutes’ drive to city centre – We mostly used taxi and uber service to commute. What really left us unimpressed was the fact that, although this is an apartment, it lacked basic facilities such as microwave and iron box. And on top of that, we hated the fact that there was no room service to redo our rooms and toilet every day. On the positive side, the owner of the apartment was reachable at all times and was quite flexible with check-in and check-out times. I guess we will stick to hotels and apartment hotels with our future travels – Apartment stay in this case hasn’t been the experience we want to relish!
