Hotel Bergwirt

Great location in peaceful and quiet environment, the window could stand open at night. No perfume in the room. Breakfast good, nice coffee. Old and charming hotel. Very kind and welcoming staff. On the minus side. The hotel needs some modernization, for example we had 3 extension pipes of 20 m2. The cleaning is deficient in both the room and the restaurant. We had ants in the room on the second floor. We will come again

We were very pleased. The hotel is 15 minutes from the Schönbrunn Zoo and Schönbrunn Palace. The value for money is very good. Dinner was excellent. The house has a unique charm and that suits Vienna. We Tyroleans have felt very welcome and comfortable.

Unfortunately, we had by far the worst hotel experience in a long time at Hotel Bergwirt Schönbrunn. The first shock upon arrival: parking is in the backyard, directly between the log storage and a dingy smoking table (presumably by the staff). The lift: yellowed, old, looks like it hasn't been renovated for decades. The hallway to our room was more like a cheap ghost train than a hotel. The room itself was an imposition: dirty carpet, a bathroom from the 60s, unkempt and run-down. The cot ordered seemed at least as old – or simply used countless times and probably parked in the said timber warehouse in between. In the room itself there were a felt 35 degrees, no air conditioning, windows only to the main street – hot and loud. Sleeping here with a toddler was simply unimaginable for us. We addressed the circumstances immediately upon reception and asked for cancellation. After consultation with the management, we were offered to visit another room facing the courtyard. But on demand it turned out: same disgusting carpet, same heat, same old cot. We refused and cancelled. Result: The first night we had to pay 100%, there was no discount – only the second night we were waived. 113 euros for such a state of affairs is cheeky and in no way justified. Fortunately, a few meters away at the Austrian Trend Hotel Schlosspark, we found a wonderful room at almost the same price – well maintained, better location (right next to the Schlosspark, not next to the cemetery), air-conditioned and with great restaurants nearby. Conclusion: Get away from the Hotel Bergwirt Schönbrunn! The images on the Internet have absolutely nothing to do with reality. I hope that many will read this review so that no one has to have the same negative experience as us.
