Our rooms were not serviced in the 3 nights we stayed there, used towels were taken away but not replaced and reception was very unhelpful when we asked about it. There was no telephone or tea and coffee facilities in our rooms and the air conditioning was a clunky and very noisy portable machine which did nothing to reduce the temperature. The walls in the room were stained and dirty as was the carpet. The advertised riverside cafe did not exist and the 24 hour bar had no staff except for the sole receptionist who was always busy doing something else and when you finally did get someone to serve it turned out you could only have gin or vodka! I find it very difficult say anything good about this hotel and I certainly would not recommend it or stay there again. WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN.

In all these years of traveling, I have never had to experience a hotel where cleanliness and hygiene mattered so little. It all started at the entrance, where guests were greeted with buckets full of rotten plants, cigar butts and other trash. It turned out that the two small ashtrays attached to the hotel, which were already so crowded on the day of arrival that they looked at first glance like small ashtrays, were never emptied during the week, as were the butts that guests threw out of the windows of the "non-smoking hotel" left on the pavement, and the empty cigarette pack on the floor under one of the ashtrays. Check-in was only possible very late at 15:00, which is why I asked in advance if a luggage room was available for safekeeping due to an inevitable earlier arrival at 12:00 - which was also possible. On the day of departure, this was no longer possible because the room has since been converted into a hotel room, but you can leave your luggage on a wall next to the registration. However, this spot was partly not visible at all from the reception, because because of the large number of suitcases and bags that were already there, the other luggage had to be placed around a corner; completely unsecured and out of the attention and eye of the receptionists. Everyone thus had unhindered access to guests' luggage, and it is inconceivable that there is not a single room available for safekeeping in the entire hotel. Of the two rooms booked, one had given the impression that it had to be a smokehouse rather than a room where guests should fill up well. A request for another room was accepted to the effect that of the two adjacent rooms booked early enough, only one could remain in the original place, while the other was on a different floor in a different part of the hotel. Of course, there was no house phone to arrange for things to do and meetings for breakfast. And had I mentioned that this new room also smelled extremely cold smoke, but this had to be accepted in the absence of a new alternative. There is now a large printout in every room that smoking is prohibited and that guests who do not comply will be charged an amount of € 150,--. But hasn't stopped anyone, as you could regularly find while waiting at the tram stop opposite the hotel: Smokers at open hotel windows who simply threw their butts outside afterwards. The room service should be trained to be able to determine when entering the rooms that there was smoking and the room would therefore be an imposition for the next guest. Probably these warnings weren't worth the paper they were printed on, because if two out of three rooms smell not just of a smoke that was just blown into the room, but of massive tobacco use that has been deposited over a long period of time, then you can extrapolate how many rooms must be affected by this throughout the hotel. The room service or its quasi-absence would probably not be expected in a hotel that misleads its guests in advance with three stars. The smoking room was one theme, the unsmoked another. After moving into your domicile for the next six nights, the absence of toothbrush glasses and the remote control was immediately noticeable, but toothbrush residue was offered in the sink, which was supplemented by a loose seat on the toilet and traces in the previous guest's toilet. What good is it to tip a blue toilet cleaner into the toilet when cleaning the room when you shy away from the brush handle? Overall, the room and shower were quite run-down and worn out, from soiled walls and dirty and damaged sanitary facilities (shower, sink and toilet) right from the first time you moved in, to sloppily suspended and dirty curtains, to the damaged shelf at the bedside table, which was only superficially and distillantly repaired and supported, including with a wire clothes hanger. Probably to compensate for this, the guest was given a shrivelled grape on the carpet. After revealing the bed, two dark spots were noticeable, visible through the bedcloth. After this was removed, a very remarkable sight has emerged, which is documented quite impressively in two of the photos. You are then somewhat stunned that the room cleaning obviously had no qualms about simply re-upholstering a mattress contaminated with disgusting physical excretions instead of using another mattress or at least peeling off and washing the cover. It is obvious that the zippers are not just for decoration. After finally organizing glasses, remote control (which proved to be indispensable, however, because only four television channels were fed into the hotel) and a mattress topper, we finally went on a exploration tour into the city. But it got really uncomfortable after the return, when you wanted to go horizontal. What distinguished all four beds were extremely thin/sagging mattresses, through which you could painfully feel the boards of the mattress topper. And I mean "painful" not in the sense of "unpleasant," but in the sense of "painful." The situation became half bearable by turning up the heating, so that you could do without the bed corner and use it as a base by folding twice or three times and make lying down more comfortable. It is incomprehensible to me why a hotel is so uninterested in the well-being of its guests, and the longer the stay, the more grievances were revealed, and one had the impression of simply being paying occupancy cattle and the operator(s) simply wanting to earn and not attaching importance to customer loyalty, i.e. returning guests, and already achieving the set operating goal with one-time bookings. This is also true: one room was graced at least once by cleaning the room with new towels and shower towels and emptying the waste basket, while the other room was verifiably never entered. No wipes, no cleaning, in the end the toilet paper ran out, and what united both rooms was not making the beds. I mean, the signs saying the rooms are open for cleaning aren't hanging there because they're such a nice green color. It was the second morning when we were told by the "room cleaning" when we left the room after ten meters whether the room should be cleaned up. I said that would be very nice, and maybe the lady hadn't seen the sign either, even though she was standing right in front of it. In the end, we were allowed to notice on the evening return that not the slightest difference between "before" and "after" was noticeable i.e. no room cleaning took place at all, which showed up in various things (shower, carpet, waste or just the bed). It wouldn't have taken a massive amount of physical effort from the staff to do these few things, because of course you always leave the rooms anyway in a state where no personal things or clothes are lying around or getting in the way (like suitcases or bags), everything was tidy, the duvets were knocked back to air, the sanitary facilities also without residue. So it was just a matter of giving the guest, to whom the room was not assigned as free as an act of mercy, after his return some of what is understood by a "made room". But even that was probably too much to ask for, and obviously there is no such thing as a check or proof of performance in the first place, because otherwise you cannot explain such sloppy behaviour, which already borders on refusal to work. How unimportant a large part of the staff cares about their own workplace has been shown quite fittingly by a sheet on one of the two elevators, which indicates that the elevator is affected by disruptions again and again and that the manufacturer company is already informed of this. What is remarkable about this is that this letter is from October 2024 (!) and either says that the elevator is still not repaired after 14 months or the note was simply forgotten to remove - which is more likely because it was no longer present on the other floors. Now, if I were to read the above lines from another writer, my first thought would be that they must have come from a difficult, unwell person who would look fanatically for errors or grievances. However, having written and experienced all this myself, I can assure that I am neither difficult nor unpleasant nor fanatical, but simply angry and disappointed at a stay in an extremely poorly run hotel that I have never had to experience in this way. People have been looking forward to this holiday for weeks, paying hundreds of euros for accommodation that then turns out to be so negative. But there was also a very pleasant aspect to all this trouble: breakfast. The person responsible for this must be explicitly excluded from this criticism. Unlike in the rest of the house, you notice that there is someone behind it who likes to do his job and is committed. So many good things, so unusually much variety, not just one, but several hot dishes, from sweet to fruity to sour, and especially the blonde lady with the beautiful braided hairstyle, who did her job so friendly, restrained but extremely effective, had made for a very pleasant stay. If only her colleague had failed to dispose of his saliva jet, which is disgustingly brown from chewing tobacco, every few minutes, visible to all in the breakfast room in a sink at the door to the kitchen. An unsavory affair because guests actually want to enjoy their breakfast and not have saliva-spitting staff in front of them. But now it really eats enough...
