Gasthof - Pension Bergheimat

Were for an extended weekend with 19 people and 3 dogs in this house (family). The house is no longer a hotel, but is offered as a whole holiday home via a platform. What was perfect for us from the pictures and the equipment. Arrived and got a brief briefing from the landlady, she was very straightforward but nevertheless very stressed. On Feb. However, the nightmare began on day one. Landlord came into the house without first giving notice. We'd never seen him before, didn't know who he was, and didn't know he was coming into the house. When asked who he is and why he gained access to the house without prior notice, an absolutely cheeky answer came back. "It would be his house, he can go in if he wants." The individual rooms of the house cannot be locked and we had left valuables there as well. However, this was not the only incident with the landlord. He came by several times a day (we were sitting outside the door in the nicest weather) made aggressive speeches regarding his entry to the house, which we would no longer have hot water, that we would stand by his house in his parking lot, that he is the owner and not his wife and that he does not care “shit” whether we booked it through a website and what we are entitled to according to the website, that if we do not repark he will kick us out,... . He became more and more aggressive, personal and very threatening during the conversation. You couldn't have a normal conversation among adults. We then contacted the hostess twice and asked for omission, which was not implemented. On the last day we really didn't have any hot water. In addition, we found numerous shards, bottlenecks (which our dog found and had in its mouth) and dirt under the tables. The floor on the ground floor sticks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. In the kitchen you can not ventilate, the extractor hood is more than just a bit dirty and the fuse flies again and again if you want to operate these. The whole house smells musty and the mold can be seen in some places. Plug-in cans are glued back to the tiles with armor tape, his urinal does not work at the bottom and the others are very unhygienic. The heating in the entrance area is dripping, the tiles in some rooms come off the walls, the beds have a sagged mattress,... . These are just a few points to criticise about this House. All in all, the house is a pure disaster, not only because of the dirty and completely outdated furnishings, but rather because of the aggressive, unkempt and uncommunicative landlord. We have stayed in this region several times in holiday homes, but nothing like this has ever happened to us. Displaying such audacity towards his guests is the bottom drawer. This house should no longer be rented out in the current state.

My children (ages 10 and 11) and I spent a week's ski vacation here. The negative experience began upon our arrival at about quarter to nine in the evening. There was nobody at the reception when we walked in, it took quite a while before the owner lady showed up. She was visibly annoyed that we had apparently arrived later than the norm. Her main concern wasn't to greet or help us, but to quickly pocket the tourist tax, which is normally settled at the end of one's stay, not at the beginning. When I asked if we could get something to eat (we were paying for half board, so dinner was included in the price), she said "Küchen hat geschlossen" (kitchen has closed), "You can get something outside the hotel". When I politely asked if we perhaps could get some sandwiches, she replied "KÜCHEN HAT GESCHLOSSEN!!!" in a raised voice. I commented that she wasn't exactly making us feel welcome, but was only met with a blank stare before she scarpered away in the darkness of the hotel. I have traveled a lot, but this is the only time so far in my life that I decided on the spot "I'm never ever coming back here again"! Our room was dark and dingy, and looked like it had neither been renovated nor even cleaned since the 1960's, with worn-out old furniture and a folding bed which looked like it had been through World War II and would collapse any minute. It was so bad that my kids, who are normally pretty resilient, were both upset and crying. But I figured there was no point in going and talking to the unfriendly lady, because the other rooms were probably at least as bad, so we went to sleep instead. The next morning, we went down to breakfast, and were met by utter chaos. There were apparently more people staying in the hotel and the nearby apartments than there was capacity in the restaurant, so everybody had to fight for a spot at a table, and there was barely space to move around the buffet. The selection of food for breakfast was OK, but not exactly overwhelming, and the "orange" juice consisted of synthetic concentrate watered down so far it was undrinkable. The owner lady was now friendly, but given the way she had behaved the evening before, it seemed obvious that it was phony, and my first strongly negative impression was lasting. During the week, the food was mostly OK, although certainly not "haute cuisine". The portions served, especially the desserts, where sometimes so small that you didn't know whether to laugh or cry. And the vegetables in the buffet generally weren't very fresh. And one day in the week was apparently "vegetarian day" or something, although nobody told the guests - the main course consisted of fried mushrooms which tasted so bad that feeding them to a hog would have been considered cruelty to animals! The kids and I focused on our skiing and tried to ignore the negative hotel experience as much as possible. Fortunately, skiing in Sölden was fantastic, the weather was excellent, and we could eat delicious lunches on the ski slopes to our hearts' content. And we solved the issue of chaos in the restaurant by getting up early and beating the crowd. So we had a great holiday anyway. But like I said, I would never, ever go back to this hotel. I know not to expect too much from a three-star hotel, but this one doesn't even warrant one star. We didn't pay very much for our stay, but it still feels like we paid too much. And speaking of which: when it was time to check out and pay for the week's drinks, we weren't presented with a professional, detailed printed invoice (which is a legal requirement in most European countries), but with undecipherable hieroglyphics in a notebook. I had kept track of our drinks myself, so I could see that the proposed amount wasn't unreasonable, but it was impossible to verify exactly. Makes you strongly suspect that they are systematically overcharging, and probably not reporting a lot of income to the tax authorities either! And also, when the kids ordered soft drinks, the unfriendly owner lady automatically gave us "large" drinks that the kids couldn't finish rather than normal (so she could charge more) until we explicitly told her not to. Other points: wifi wasn't free (as advertised bt the travel agent), but ridiculously expensive, so we skipped that. Friendly staff (apart from the owners). Pro: Not expensive, easy to access by car, (limited) free parking, just a short walk to convenient free ski bus to Sölden, friendly staff (apart from the owners), excellent skiing in Sölden. Con: Unfriendly owners, certainly not worth its price, doesn't deserve three stars, expensive wifi, dingy rooms with worn-out furniture, chaos in the restaurant, mediocre food. Summary: Sölden is great for skiing, but don't stay at this lousy hotel!

Good location for sky in Oztal region - Solden, Vent, Hochgurgl-Obergurgl, very close to the sky bus. Private parking for free. Food OK. Family atmosphere, good value for money. Do not have big expectations.
