I booked this hotel for a 4 night ski break with a friend, we could not have picked a better hotel.
We stayed half board and the food was always a good quality with options.
The staff were friendly and welcoming and considering our lack of German the endeavoured to help us without any issue.
We flew into Innsbruck then took a €15 cab to the train station to catch a €11 train to the resort ( changing once) and it could not have been easier as the hotel is across the road from the train station.
For skiing you can get a bus which starts across the road or catch a train to Kaltenbach and a 5 minute walk will find you at the lifts, also for a bit of apres ski afterwards.

Having read the other reviews, “after”, we booked the Malerhaus, we expected the worst and cursed our luck for booking.
However, not only were we surprised at their level of service and attention to detail, we were at a loss as to find a fault, despite desperately trying to.
We booked for the location, which is ideally located directly across from the Fugen-Hart, train station. This suited us as we were a party of 5, 3 adults, 1 senior and 1 x 5 year old.
We took a deep breath before we went inside to meet this terrible owner, only to be met by a very happy go lucky women, who proceeded to check us in. As we chatted in my broken German and her broken English, she called her husband, whom she said had better English. He continued the booking in process and kept chatting and including the child in our conversation.
Showed us the ski bus timetable outside reception and pointed us to where we would catch it. (Train station), and said that if we had any problems, to let them know straight away.
The breakfast was as in any European hotel. Cold meats, salads, cheese, boiled, fried and scrambled meats. A typical breakfast, complete with a fantastic selection of different breads and croissants. Very happy with the hot beverage and juice selection as well. Both owners were always present at breakfast and dinner, ensuring people got what they wanted and assisted with bringing out plates, glasses, food etc.
The staff were exceptional, always smiling, always willing to help and always on hand to answer a question. They were when you wanted them and invisible when you didn’t.
Our our first night we ate up the top of the village. Hotel food is usually a bit dodgy.
On our second night, we were wrecked and decided to eat in the hotel. Wow. What an experience. An Italian chef.
I had the beef with onions and spuds, mam the calzone pizza and the two girls pasta with prawns and a tortellini. Mouth watering.
Suffice to say, we ate there for the next 2 nights and were equally impressed at each meal.
After day 2, we were still trying to find fault with the hotel, but the experiences kept getting better. We noticed that the pillows were arranged each night in a different shape on the bed, a small but effective welcome back to your room. The rooms were spotless every evening and nothing was out of place or touched. (We took pics in the morning before we set off, to see was anything of value removed, misplaced etc).
Our flight on Friday was not until 8pm and we asked was it possible to stay in our rooms until 11.30am. (Normal European checkout - 10am). Absolutely no problem at all, for these guys. We appreciated this gesture, so much as we were with a very tired child after his first ski experience. It also made our stay a little bit more palatable and we hugely respected the flexibility on this occasion.
So we signed out, with no fuss, thanked the staff and the owner for a fantastic stay and the owner saw us out the door.
On the train back we, struggled to find one bad thing to say about Hotel Malerhaus. Then we discovered, we did have one bad thing to say. “It rained as we were leaving”. Terrible. 😉
I don’t normally write a review for a hotel but given the other negative comments, which in their own regard are the personal opinions of others who may have had a negative stay. I can only say that in our opinion, this holiday was made by the hotel owners and staff.
One final mention, would be on the top floor. The spa and treatment center was a sight to behold. Fully equipped sauna and steam room. Unfortunately, we did not get the opportunity to use these facilities but went up for a look see, before we left.
Will definitely stay here again. 10 from 10
