The hotel is a friendly, family run hotel located a short distance up a hill on a very quiet road. It's a typical Tyrolean hotel and attractive in many ways. The breakfast room is light and airy, the dining room is very impressive to look at and there's a load of facilities in the basement which I didn't explore.
It's a very easy walk in terms of distance into the town but it's harder in terms of the lack of pavement for pedestrians for most of the road and the ice in winter. We found that there wasn't always enough grit on the road to get a sure footing. In ski boots it makes more sense to immediately cross the road to the small learners' piste and walk or ski down the snow covered hill and to reverse that trip at the end of the day. Apparently you can also ski back to the hotel with a bit of cross country and road crossing but it didn't sound convenient and we didn't try this.
My room with a small balcony was ok, the bed had an average mattress and a lifeless pillow. The small bathroom had a tiny shower that would frustrate most Americans or anyone on the large size. The shower had a fair bit of accumulated damage which had been temporarily repaired with blobs of sealant. All functional but didn't look good. The price was reasonable which is the basis for my 4/5 score although I almost made that 3/5 based on the WiFi...
The WiFi was very problematic while we were there and rarely worked in our rooms for more than a day at a time. This needs fixing. Best practice here is to use a single SSID and to have a password on the WiFi to enable encryption and to have decent bandwidth for guests who are doing a spot of work.
Breakfast was good, I liked the range of cheeses and hams on offer. They could add a toaster to keep the Brits happy but perhaps this isn't their mainstay clientele.
We dined one evening at the hotel. The menu and serving hours are limited. The food was ok but was probably limited by budget as I think it was the same food offered to the guests on half-board.
I'm generally not a fan of ski buses but the bus service is frequent from a nearby stop down the hill to the nearby gondola at the start and end of day. It generally wan't too crowded but don't expect linear queuing. Be careful if you want to come back at lunchtime, it's very infrequent during the day. A short taxi ride may make more sense.
The distance isn't too bad but with the hill I'd only walk from the nearby rail station if you have light luggage or want some exercise on that hill! Taxi was 7 euros and with our heavy luggage was definitely required.

We have just returned from a December January 4 week stay at the enchanting Hotel Willms
The amazing new Fleckalbahn ski lift opened on our day of arrival
This lift zips one to the top in only 8 minutes
Our only disappointment with it, is that the Architects forgot to include a Restaurant /Cafeteria in their design for the base area, where they have the Ticket offices and a huge Intersport Hire shop
Every Gondola station in the Alps has a Restaurant/Cafeteria at the base
Except Kirchberg !!!!!!!!
Apart from that negative point, the Kirchberg slopes were in perfect condition, especially during the period from 14 December up to Christmas
As in previous years, there had been good early snowfalls and the slopes were very empty during this pre Christmas period
Another excellent point this year is that the Kitzski group have replaced most of the old Snow Canons ( as still used in all the other European ski resorts) with their brand new style of Snow Canon
These produce real snow whereas all the older ones, simply produce tiny particles of frozen ice
They leave the new Canons running all night and each morning, it seems as if we have had a proper snowfall overnight
Yes they produce real powdery snow!
The ski buses this year were also far more frequent and were operating every 20 minutes
Many of the Kitzbuehel skiers would come to the Fleckalmbahn Lift each day as there is now no queuing time ( queuing time in Kitzbuehel at the Hannenkam lift is daily between 1 and 2 hours)
The Willms itself shines still like a star in the Alpine sky
The hotel, the food, the ambiance, the Spa are all without reproach
I think this was our 5th or 6th visit to the Willms and we are so pleased, we have booked to return in 5 weeks time ( thus allowing our ski legs to relax before our next leisurely skiing down the slopes)
