RILANO RESORT STEINPLATTE

We have been to Austria 12+ times but this was the first and probably last stay for us at this hotel. We booked directly with them but struggled to get much response via email so had to phone them. Its very impressive to look at with great views and the spa facilities are great. There was me my husband and our 12 year old son. After nearly a week we became bored with the poor choice of evening meal buffet options and lack of options that our son would eat. Given the amount of families children were poorly catered for we felt. The restaurant is large but very busy in August with so many children it's a bit of a free for all and because so many children use this hotel the furnishings are very grubby I think every seat was stained. The breakfast was good. I think personally if you have a young family and aren't to worried about food options then this is for you but if you want something a bit nicer and quieter then avoid in peak times. We ended up cutting our holiday short and moved to a much nicer hotel. Sadly the hotel manager here was rather unhelpful when we approached him.

The surroundings are still nice. The wellness area is top-notch. The catering is outrageous. It has already gotten worse over the last few years, but now only stale rolls and packaged sausage is simply unacceptable.

We have already been to the former Kuhotel by Rilano four times and have always been satisfied until now. That is why we decided to come again with the family – with very different age groups (17, 20, 40, and 55 years). Unfortunately, the quality of the hotel has deteriorated significantly. The rooms no longer seem high-quality, and even the towels were very rough and uncomfortable. The staff was generally friendly; however, the service was organizationally weak. At the pool, one often had to search for someone for a long time if one wanted to order something. However, we were most disappointed by the dinner. Unfortunately, the quality was very poor. Besides some salad, there was hardly anything enjoyable or selectable. For a hotel of this category, we found that really disappointing. To be honest, the dinner was worse than some meals in the hospital. It is very unfortunate that we paid for this and came with such expectations. Our recommendation: Just about a 5-minute walk away, there is a café/restaurant where locals also eat – the food there was significantly better. We sincerely hope that the new management takes this criticism seriously and places more emphasis on quality again.
