SCHWARZER ADLER

Breakfast was great. The only small issue was the sauna lighting. It was much too bright. The lights were shining straight into your eyes if you tried to lie down on the bench. Sitting was fine. Othwerwise all was fine.

I always return very willingly (for more than twenty years now) to the Schwarzer Adler, this historic hotel (since 1570, and with very illustrious guests) located in one of the most beautiful places in the Tyrol. The property is very beautiful and the services excellent and professional. Excellent value for money

There’s a class of good quality family run hotels in Austria that encourages long stays and repeat visits. The Schwarzer Adler is one of these. One of our neighbours in the fixed seat dining room was on her 15th stay. Superb buffet breakfast (the squeeze-your-own fruit carrot ginger juice machines are always a pleasure to use) and good quality three course supper with wine included (or pay more for upmarket bottles). And it’s nice (very rare) to find a hotel that actually thinks about how a guest wants to use the Nespresso machine - it’s already plugged in and the water reservoir filled daily. None of that fiddling around with reservoir lids half broken by previous guests … Of course you come here for its great location and pool/spa combination but also get superb service, large rooms with plenty of mountain views. Impressive cable cars and everything you expect from an Austrian alpine resort. There’s even a supermarket two minutes’ walk away. Train travellers: 5 minutes walk but they’ll pick you up if you prefer. Good value for money.
