Sonnenhang

A fantastic find. Great Host, great location, great views from our Studio apartment. Short walk to the slopes and to the funicular that takes you right to the centre of the town. Clean, very comfortable bed, would highly recommend.

I was somewhat apprehensive about booking Sonnenhang due to the relatively low price and limited amount of information available (reviews and photos). Upon arriving, we were greeted by the owner who was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We couldn't have asked for more! Our room was great. A nice size, clean, warm and had a great balcony with stunning views down the valley. Free Wifi (I used my own however) and modern TV that had plenty of UK channels on as well as the facility to view photos/videos taken during the day. There is a good ski room next to the front door with boot warmers. The only thing missing is a hot tub and sauna, but then I would have expected to pay significantly more for the room. Breakfast was typically Austrian but not lacking. Cereals, bread, cheese, ham, yoghurt, jams, nuttela (demolished by our 11 year old!) Fruit and boiled eggs. The Daily Telegraph describe Solden as "not the prettiest resort" however Sonnenhang is located away from the bustle of the town up the side of the valley and is a 10/15 walk/funicular to the main road. Not great if you want all night bars....We were there to ski and with the piste a 5 min walk away it was perfect for us. There was even enough snow for us to ski back within yards of the front door (although not classed as a ski run!). There are a few (very good) restaurants located near by so we rarely found the need to walk/drive into Solden. Overall, I highly recommend Sonnenhang and should we go skiing in this area again, will look to book here.

Positives: - The host is a truly wonderful lady. She was so friendly, so helpful, and did everything she could to make sure we had a great stay. - We had a double room. It was spacious and bright. - The view over the valley from the house is magnificent. Things to note: - The wifi signal was temperamental at times, and was not very strong in our room. It worked most of the time in common areas (hallway, breakfast room). - This house is best accessed by car. We used booking.com which described the house as being 200m from the bus stop. When we stayed there were no buses running near the house, and the house is about 1.5km along the uphill winding road, or 500m up a steep dirt track. All in all, a lovely house, and a really lovely stay.
