Platinum member here. Booked two rooms, for me and my two sons, three guests in total. Hotel refused to honor the breakfast benefit for both rooms and insisted only two people could eat. Front desk refused escalation and claimed there was no duty manager. Very poor service and zero elite recognition. Not the Marriott standard.

I am a Marriott Bonvoy lifetime Titanium Elite member with stays across dozens of properties worldwide over many years. I selected this Vienna property for a family stay with my wife and two children, booking two rooms as is typical for our travels. I also used my complimentary suite upgrade benefit. Upon arrival, I inquired about the welcome benefit for each room, expecting breakfast as the applicable gift when lounge access is unavailable, as I have experienced at numerous other Marriott properties. What followed was not only a deeply frustrating interaction with a staff member named Janus Varburgh, but also a sobering realization about the property's overall quality and service standards. Beyond the welcome benefit issue, the property itself fell short of Renaissance standards. My suite upgrade was the most disappointing aspect of this stay. The room was the smallest suite I have experienced in any Renaissance property, with a bathroom and toilet separated into different areas, making the layout awkward and impractical. There was no pool and no lounge, eliminating two amenities I expect at this tier of property. Basic service details were overlooked as well: there was no water refill provided in the room, and housekeeping missed our children's room entirely during the stay. When breakfast was offered as an alternative benefit, it was priced at 35 euros per person and was not exceptional in quality or portion size, making it an expensive option for what was provided. Janus's handling of the welcome benefit request was also problematic on multiple levels. He offered no detailed explanation of my available options (breakfast, points redemption, or credit). He simply repeated "This is what the Marriott rules in Austria are" without context or nuance. There was no recognition of my Titanium Elite status, my years of loyalty, or the fact that I was traveling with children. When I asked him to escalate to management or contact Petra, he declined. This refusal to involve leadership, combined with his scripted responses, made me feel unheard and undervalued. In my extensive stays at other Marriott properties, staff have extended breakfast courtesies to children in separate rooms without hesitation when loyalty tier and circumstances warranted it. This suggests discretion exists within Marriott's framework, even if Janus chose not to exercise it. What made this experience particularly upsetting was not just the policy itself, but how it was delivered. The rigid repetition of the rule, combined with an unwillingness to explain, explore options, or demonstrate any flexibility, made me feel inferior and dismissed. For a guest who has stayed at Marriott properties across the world, this was unprecedented. This is frankly one of the worst Renaissance properties I have stayed at. To Petra Schönhart's great credit, the General Manager responded to my formal complaint with professionalism and genuine care. Her response was thoughtful, her clarification of policy was helpful, and her gestures, including room refreshments and a breakfast discount for the children's room—demonstrated the standard of hospitality I expect from Marriott leadership. However, I want to be clear: her excellent response does not erase the initial failure. What it does demonstrate is what should have happened from the beginning: clear communication, empathy, and a willingness to explore what is possible within policy frameworks. Janus's interaction revealed a gap in staff training. Policies exist for a reason, but how policies are communicated matters enormously. A rule repeated without explanation or empathy becomes a barrier to service, not a standard of it. On the positive side, the professionalism of General Manager Petra and Front Office Manager Mariya demonstrates the standard your leadership sets. While General Manager Petra Schönhart's response to my complaint was professional and showed genuine care, it cannot compensate for the systemic issues at this property. The location is convenient, but that is where the positives end. The suite upgrade failed to deliver value, basic amenities are missing (pool, lounge), housekeeping was inconsistent, and the property fell well below Renaissance standards in both quality and service. The breakfast pricing was high for substandard offerings, and even water refills were not provided. I remain a Marriott loyalist, but I cannot recommend this property. Between the poor staff training exemplified by Janus, the substandard room quality, the missing amenities, and the operational lapses in housekeeping, this property requires significant improvements before it deserves its Renaissance designation. Would I return? No. There are far superior Renaissance and Marriott properties in Vienna and throughout Europe that deserve loyalty members' business far more than this one.

Nevena the operation manager wasn’t professional she’s so picky, i felt like she wanted to control everything even customers.. the problem is that she thinks she is the boss of the customers,, she should focus more on customer comfort instead, Basically when you arrive to the hotel, you are on your own if you see something wrong and you complain, she will pick on you & never fix the problem. … Nevena the operation manager on the other hand makes things harder as it’s already hard! when Nevena tells you something expect she will change her mind anytime.. so never ever trust her ! rooms in the hotel are so nice and comfortable , reception staff friendly and so helpful also the staff at the breakfast they are so friendly as well.. they really deserve better operation manager.. i love the hotel & excuse my honesty without me being honest things wouldn’t improve..
