Anselmus City Center

Good location, decent breakfast and spacious rooms. No lift & narrow stairs so could be awkward if you will struggle to carry your bags up. We stayed on top floor which was nice but low ceilings did result in a few bumped heads. Was not too hot when we stayed but proper air conditioning would be helpful in warmer weather.

Hotel in the historic center, but in a very quiet location. The decor of the lobby and common areas is characteristic. Parking is available in their garage 200 meters from the hotel. Room and bathroom are large, perfectly clean. The breakfast is good. Definitely recommended.

Firstly the bad points. 1. In need of a deep clean. Floors dirty and very dusty. Don’t think they have seen a mop and bucket or a brush in some time. Areas around the hotel very dusty. 2. Had to ask for housekeeping to take away dirty cups and replace with clean ones. 3 . No lift available so having to carry suitcases up some dark spiral like staircase is not ideal. Also staircase has dark carpet and very dimly lit. 4. Hoover left in corridor. (Not sure when that got used considering the dust that was about. 5. Room extremely hot. Despite heating turned off and window open. Was told no fan was available on arrival but on last day of a 7. day stay one was given to us ! 6. Room over looking street at the front very noisy… Work being done at a building across the street. Work men started work early. 7.30 am. Very loudly !! 7. No shaving point for shaver /toothbrush in bathroom. 1 hook only in bathroom. Nowhere to put clothes etc. Bathroom floor was extremely dirty. Not been cleaned properly for some time. 8. Safe in room not working. Staff gave us a key to use Plus points were the staff were pleasant and friendly. Very helpful. Hotel convenient for bus stop and to walk into Bruges centre.
