Montanus Hotel

Everything worked out so well. It was the biggest heat wave, and I don’t even know how long it lasted. The air conditioner was the best I’ve ever had in Europe, so that made us so happy to start with. Everyone was kind and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, making fresh eggs to order with real butter. A large selection of fruit, cheese, meat, and breads. The cappuccinos were divine. To sit outside in the garden area was so fabulous, especially the second day with a bit of rain under a big canopy. It was delightful. Both girls helped us out for each morning at breakfast. The location is about 8 minutes walking from the market center, the main area of town, but that allowed us to have a larger-size room at this hotel because my friends who were right in town had a beautiful tiny room at their hotel. I was glad to be at our hotel after going into their small, tiny room with barely any air-conditioning during a heat wave.

Unfortunately, the stay did not go as hoped. This hotel is not up to the level of 4 stars. We booked a standard room with a garden view, but we were assigned a handicap-accessible room on-site. Although spacious, the comfort was not up to par: -the front door let in light in the morning (which is not the case for the other neighboring rooms) -the sheets are made of linen, which is not the most pleasant -the bathroom is disappointing (plastic shower curtain, sink that drains poorly, only one high showerhead with water spraying in all directions, sliding door that is difficult to close) -various noises (recurring banging above the bed, we can hear the rain falling violently, church bell, airplane…). Therefore, it is not a very restful stay. Pros: well located, the mattress is comfortable, and a large bottle of water is available in the room. We asked the receptionist for explanations the next morning, who showed us no consideration. In response to our comments, he remained unresponsive. The only solution was to pay an additional €100 to change rooms. No commercial gesture was offered.

Nice hotel, nice and considerate service, very good breakfast and perfect location especially with parking. Breakfast and parking too expensive
