Thermae Palace

The location is calm and right in front of the sea, walking distance from Oostende and Mariakerke. The room is spacious and beds are great. There is a coffee maker and a functional fridge. However the bathroom is a bit outdated and the shower didn't work well. They have a water saving spray that doesn't allow a good showerm an easy rinse of sand nor does it give you stable water temperature. These things are really critical as we were tavelling with a toddler. There is no airco, and the room does heat up but in mornings and evenings you can flush the room to cool down a bit. However that also meant we were unable to sleep longer than 6AM due to the noise of trucks delivering at the parking lot, the birds and people talking outside. People at the desk were very friendly and the Albert restaurant was also very good. They accomodated us very well and were flexible enough.

Great, old hotel with super helpful staff. Rooms with a sea view are a dream.

Impressive, striking hotel, We were there for two nights, a short getaway for two. All in all a nearly perfect stay, but the rooms need a complete renovation (old carpet covered in stains, outdated fixtures in the bathroom, bathtub and toilet old, the iron grilles on the windows completely rusted, and the wooden railing outdated and crumbling)…the bed was very comfortable. The common areas, breakfast restaurant, brasserie, and lobby are fantastic :) With renovated rooms, we would have easily given 5/5 stars.
