Peermont Walmont at the Grand Palm Gaborone

We had an email confirming the Grand Palm Walmont shuttle would meet us at the Gaborone Airport. But it didn’t arrive so we had to find our own way to the hotel which wasn’t an easy task. Definitely not a good start for our Grand Palm hotel stay. I had a large, two room suite which was actually two single rooms connected by an adjoining door. It provided me with two bathrooms, a comfortable bedroom and a rather congested TV and lounge room. The ‘Grand Palm’ hotel is no longer grand because it’s looking quite tired and outdated. There are numerous issues that need fixing or repairing to help rejuvenate it again. The following list is incomplete but it gives some idea about the annoying issues I encountered. Lights not working in an already dark room Power points not working USB sockets not charging phones Shower heating difficult to manage Toilet cistern not refilling in a timely manner Room phones not connecting to reception desk or outside lines Wifi connections were unreliable TV connected to only several analog channels without internet for digital A ‘transport desk’ which was never operational No concierge service Fortunately Pindai provided invaluable assistance at the reception desk when I required outside phone lines for transport and flight issues. There were no nearby restaurants so we relied on the several hotel restaurants for all meals. The breakfast buffet was excellent and was even kept open longer on Gaborone Marathon day to cater for late race finishers. Other restaurant areas provide a range of meals but I wouldn’t recommend the smoky pizza from the pool restaurant. Despite its many quirks I’d stay there again. But it’s no longer a 4 star hotel now the glitz has faded.

😔 I never thought I'd write a post like this... Yesterday, I went to Deep Klean Professionals Car Wash at the Grand Palm Resort — a place I've trusted for its safe, secure location inside the hotel grounds and the usually respectful, lovely guys who work there. I arrived, parked, sat down, and waited like any normal customer. Then a more expensive car pulled up... and everything changed. The 2 guys who were free or almost done with their cars when i arrived completely forgot about me and every other customer who was already there. They dropped everything and rushed to serve the more expensive car first — outside only, while the owner sat comfortably with his girlfriend ( i have zero issues with the driver & his partner - they were just clients ; the burden of duty lies on the car wash patrons not the client) I waited patiently, hoping they'd get back to my car soon. They didn't. Not even an acknowledgment. Not a single word. I felt completely invisible, disrespected, and belittled — like my car, my time, and my dignity didn't matter because someone else drove something more expensive.Whats worse is that ive only paid the standard fee once; every other time ive made it a point to leave a tip. This was one of the most hurtful customer experiences I've had in a very long time. It broke my heart because I genuinely liked supporting this local business. But after yesterday, I can never go back there again. To the boys at Deep Klean: Basic respect and fairness shouldn't depend on the type of car someone drives. First come, first served should still mean something. I'll be leaving honest 1-star reviews everywhere I can, because no one deserves to feel this small as a paying customer. If you're looking for a car wash in Gaborone, please think twice before going here. Your feelings and your time matter too. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Worst hotel ever. Didn't even let me know how much it costed until I showed up and it costed.. 32,569 THOUSAND dollars. This place isn't even WORTH or LOOKS like 32,569 THOUSAND dollars. It looks like a ran down school that they turned into a hotel. Never coming back.
