I will make an introduction regarding my relationship with Accor and the Ibis network in particular. I've been living in hotels for over a decade. For the first three years I only stayed in Ibis. And praised. After a very serious situation at the Ibis where I lived, from which I got acquainted with hotels outside the chain, I started to stay only in promotions, in order to maintain the status in the loyalty program. After a Black Fake in which I made more than 200 daily reservations in the network hotels, but Accor, by a unilateral attitude, cancelled half of these reservations and shamelessly still blamed the credit card administrator and, in retaliation, for several complaints posted by me about this case, stopped presenting me as a client Platinum, I ceased to be a customer of the network and I only stay in cases. It is very bureaucratic and impersonal, the care leaves nothing to be desired, the cost/benefit ratio is terrible and the rewards program more and more seems to me as grills than benefits.
This review covers more than one stay, since they were close to each other, it did not make sense to write several that differed in details.
At the entrance, the first charge was without the discount of the program points. I protested. The second charge was still wrong. Only hit the third. This at the first stay, when the reservation was made by the website. When I switched to the APP, it did not allow the reduction of program points at the time of booking and only worsened with the time lost at the time of check-in and the lack of proof of how much was reduced in the reservation. The problem is that the operation is surrounded by mystery, as you are notified of how many points you are using, but not the real value in the email that they send you. And I explain my concern, because just as there was a mistake in charging the first stay in the old Ibis Style Pampulha, the employee made the discount in dollars instead of euros, which resulted in a smaller discount. This has to be clear, printed on paper, which neither Accor nor the staff of this hotel did.
To make me even more upset, the Ibis, which were one of the few chains that respected the guest’s full “daily,” now adopted check-in at 15 hours, when before it was at 12 hours. 3 hours of the guest's diary. It's absurd. The modification took place in accordance with the entry into force of Ordinance 28/25 of the Ministry of Tourism which sought to prevent abuses, but as it was poorly drafted, opened gaps for companies of dubious reputation to take advantage of the situation. The employee who attended me was the one who gave the news. She allowed entry before 3 p.m. The booking confirmation sent by email contains the change, but only to vary, is in English. Another negative point for the jail and another disappointment for me.
Another thing: the lack of people to hire hit this hotel. The check-in has been time-consuming. I can't get any of the rooms I used to have. There is even confusion about whether you can parcel and the minimum amount of parcel.
It seems to me that they have increased the number of luggage carriages, but they remain terrible, look rescued from a boot out and did a rough repair. You can barely overcome the level of the entrance and elevators.
In the Ibis there is no weight or trousers to hold the door of the room, it happened to come in, come back to get the suitcase and the moment I went down to grab it the door gave me a slight push and closed behind me, leaving me on the outside... without the key.
Fujo from Belo Horizonte to have quiet on the weekends, but on a stay there was a lot of children, dog barking early... I just didn't like it, because this was one of the few hotels that avoided using ear protectors. On one side there is a truck parking – and its noisy diesel engines – and the Nascente, on the other side there is a recycling company that uses heavy equipment. A torture. In addition, the hotel was under construction. One more thing to bother sleep.
This ibis is on the edge of the Rod. Fernão Dias, being suitable for short stays of travelers. Next: posts, supermarket, hypermarket, wholesale and restaurants, pharmacies and other small shops within the hypermarkets, although access is poor walking. The traffic of cars is bad, as the highway has a central bench and the returns are long and/or complicated. The sidewalk in front of the hotel is used as a motorway – I already made a complaint to DNIT that referred to the Road Police who just sent me a note with their assignments and no one took any measures, the motorcycles continue to traffic at speed and I was already threatened when I showed my disapproval.
The wifi internet connection started badly. As soon as I open the browser is redirected to the page for you to log in. This page (and the others) will be in English, but you can go to Portuguese at the top of the page. The login page always overlaps with a browser page that I leave open, clearing the history of it and making me miss the point I was working on. I really don't understand why hotels in this network make it so difficult to log in. To connect asked to enter with the email, but did not recognize my registered email?! They say that by being enrolled in the All program I have the right to premium WiFi. What's the point if you keep disconnecting me. It is bad to know that they monitor the network, but to interfere with the guest's connection without him doing anything wrong... what is the justification?
In the Ibis the position of the counter leaves you back to the TV and I like to work on the notebook watching the TV. The adoption of wheelchairs with adjustments would be more comfortable and quiet. The artificial lighting of the Ibis is - in general - good, but on the big mirror there is no dedicated lighting.
Speaking of TV, here it is larger than the size "standard hotel" with access connections (HDMI, pen-drive, etc.). The biggest advantage of TV is that it’s smart, so if you have a subscription from Netflix, Disney and others, it’s going to work well. There are about 1000 IP channels from LG. I started looking and even found a horror movie channel. To start the title on the grid hardly hits with movie that is passing, while watching, almost at the end, the movie was simply cut, because he said it was no longer available.
In ancient times it was possible to make local calls directly from the phone of the room, but this has been a long time, today I don't know.
In most rooms, the air conditioner has problems with the thermostat, result: heated, turned on, cooled, turned off. This is suffered during sleep.
The blecaute on the counter also causes confusion and accidents. Several times, when I open/close the blecaut something left on the counter ends up being thrown to the ground. I already left objects in the hidden Ibis by the blecaut. Still, “empty” light on the sides and below it. They put a frame up, I don't understand why they don't do it from the sides. Some rooms would still demand a clear opaque curtain that protects privacy without darkening the entire environment.
I’m very sleepy because of the standard Ibis mattresses – that double layer under the box bed that’s constantly disallining. I also bothered the sheet without elastic. With this it was common, with the movement at night, to wake up without there being anything between me and the mattress. Alternatively, due to this same movement, both created waves under my body leaving it all marked. He woke up and lost time sleeping to stretch his sheets and align his mattresses. I can't stand the dirt and always ask for a sheet, but you don't seem to have it. What I get is the part of the edredon that looks like a sheet. It is already bizarre in the Brazilian heat to offer an edredon and it is even more strange not to have a “normal” sheet to provide.
Like any hotel intended for business guests who usually stay little time and therefore carry little luggage, there are not many space options to organize the luggage and part gets messy inside the suitcase. The layout of the Ibis also allows for many “dead songs” which is needed in a place with so little space – my huge suitcase always ends on the ground.
The window has a wide opening leaving the room well airy. Even so, you need to be careful, as the hotel is surrounded by mosquito farms. In terms of safety only the magic eye. The safe is there as an ornament. The maids have a master key that unlocks the door. They ended up invading the room while I was in it. I shouted, and the maid retreated. Imagine if it were the opposite of a man breaking into a woman's room... From there I started using a door lock that I bought on the internet (photo) and recommend.
Just as TV has changed for the better, here the change has gone for the worse. In addition to the refrigerator decrease from 80 to 50 liters, it is in a very uncomfortable position. Or put the fridge bar on a bench to stay higher and make it easier to access, or place it near the table, so when we are sitting, it will be easier to reach something there. The solution of the frigobar was terrible. It is common I myself promote the melting of the frigobar, which not seldom has an “iceberg” in the freezer. Can no one do the dilution? I know it's cause for controversy, but I prefer the unfilled frigobar like this network.
In the bathroom, taps are unique for hot/cold water – positive. In the sink, that damn economical tap that doesn't even have pressure to clean the shaver. Limitation on exit and leakage: the sink was clogged, I was forced to use my pince to release. In the area of the shower was not different, also was, partially, clogged. In room 666, there was a droplet almost over the private – droplet in the bathroom is nothing pleasant, because you never know what is dropleting on you, right? In the same room the dryer almost got on fire. The shower is in central position, so it would fall well a touch (not provided), even because there's always a clogged/tortus splashing water everywhere – it's almost impossible to get out without weting your head. The water was among the hottest I’ve ever experienced – another positive point. The bath area is very narrow and you argue with the box and the walls – sometimes even to escape this very hot water. Just a dumpster in the room and stays in the bathroom. In the bathroom there was 1 little soap and 2 bath towels (quality, although some were stained). The shampoo is in economical reusable packaging. I consider it minimally hygienic: at least another face towel (or bath), after all I take two baths/day, considering that the weather was rainy, not always the towel used at night, was dry early in the morning. And another little soap, after all, no one in your house uses the same to take a bath and to hygienize... is a matter of hygiene – that extends, obviously, towels.
I'm not the type who keeps looking under the bed to see the level of dirt, but finding hair in the fridge, pillows and towels really bothers me. I did not like the cleaning standard of this Ibis (see photos).
As agreed much later, I do not include breakfast, however, in some stays, the coffee came inclusive... and only knew why the employee alerted at check-in, because if she had not spoken, nor would I know, because in the confirmation of the reservation and during the reservation in the APP there is no indication. An absurdity, as it may have been right for other days with coffee, but I never knew. Another observation of how Accor is omitted with guest rights. I am so suspicious that I asked several employees and several times to confirm the right to coffee, I asked until they printed the vouchers. One of those days, I woke up much earlier to taste the coffee and the employee asked me to sign. I asked why and she said the coffee wasn't included. By chance, one of those employees I had asked for a voucher, said that in my stay the coffee was included. After wasting a good time, another employee did the right thing and let me have coffee. At the end of the day, I asked if the problem had been resolved, to see if I could have coffee the next day. They said it was a problem in the system!!!!! In the days I left to take at the last hour, I saw that there is no rest. Reading the review of another guest, I inferred the reason: the café is open to the public. The hotel makes a prediction, but because of this detail, more people end up attending the cafe... and the guest, who has nothing to do with the greed of the management, is the one who ends up hurt. At this final hour of coffee, they start to pass the cloth with you still drinking coffee. I found that very rude. The coffee itself has a good amount of pasta and fruit. The fruit salad, to earn this name, would still have to add at least 3 fruits and be better mixed. In commercial environments, it should be mandatory to use that machine, which at the same time as stirring, refrigerates orange juice (integral), but not, here it is put in a small pack and provided ice cubes that only serve to water the juice. After the pandemic in which it was "descorted" that alcohol is a sanitary agent in collective dining environments, I really do not understand why some hotels do not offer it anymore. For me it would be a matter of health surveillance. At first, there were flies that landed in the food, then they put a fan that made them disappear. Still, it was not a pleasant experience, so I did not go down every day and the other reason is at the end...
As for the loyalty program, what you most enjoy are the small mimos like the “Good Comes” drink – but it’s good to remember, because they live forgetting – and early check-in and/or late check-out – the problem of these is that they remain in the dependency of authorization. Now premium wifi, priority care... forget, I was Platinum when it was the last stage and no one ever prioritized me for anything. I remember at Mercure in Recife that the priority was for those who shouted louder... I was the penultimate to be taken care of, because the last was still waiting for someone to arrive.
The cleanliness (of entrance) was not very good in most stays (again, look at the photos). During all this time, I only requested room service in one of the stays that amended with another and spent 10 days. My experience in hotels taught me how to avoid trouble with the maid, which was common here. The service was ok. The next day, however, they knock on the door offering toilet paper. It became clear that they did not put on the day of service, it is known there the reason, and the other day they bothered me with it, while I was busy. For a large network, which charges what it charges, it's too bad to bother.
Considering that I am not an “ordinary tourist”, because I have lived in hotels for more than a decade, what I most value as TV programming, air conditioning, fridge bar, internet wifi, maintenance and care, location, quality of sleep and, finally, most importantly, the relationship between these and the cost of the daily would say that was awful. I admit I don't like this network! It is, on average, 50% more expensive than its equivalents – this without including coffee – and has problems identical to road mucus. Dishonest, they used the bad wording of the government order to delay our check-in, although forget that it makes it clear that the daily is 24 hours – information necessary only for the shy. The involution of my stays on the network is a great example of this. Information given on the network's own page: 2014 is zero, although it was in that year that I had started living in the hotel, at the end of that year, I was already a Platinum client of the highest degree of the Relationship Program at the time; 2015 (172 nights), 2016 (134) was at the end of that year that I had a very serious problem – which is more for crime, but I had no way to prove – in the Ibis that I lived and practically stopped staying in the network; 2017 (3 nights); 2018 (43); 2019 (11); 2020 (74); 2021 (284) I took advantage of a Black Friday of the previous year; 2022 (58 nights) on the Black Friday of the previous year I made more reservations than in 2020, but Accor canceled half and, in retaliation, I canceled the other half, at the end of the year there were only 2 nights left to maintain my Platinum status, but as Accor no longer sends the end of year gifts to me, which I had made the reservation (incident in this hotel), and I canceled the status; 2023 (7); 2025 (824 (5)). This shows how troubled my relationship with this network is, that in 365 days of the year, whenever I could I avoided the network and only took advantage of promotions that were very worth it. Good professionals when they find out that I live in hotels, try to captivate me, but in this network both SAC and hotels, even when I prioritized, I am ill-treated. Even so, I only stay in order not to lose the points that are difficult to accumulate. In this particular Ibis the quality deteriorated much with the new management, had a good relationship with the old and the staff were more friendly and helpful. I hosted myself taking advantage of the promotions at the beginning of the year by the APP and I was not happy with that, because the city council installed several new radars and I ended up falling on some. In the end, the situation in this hotel became so bad, that I began to fear for leaving my vehicle in the parking lot and leaving my things in the room while going out (remember the other reason why I stopped going down to the coffee?), for fear of invasion – here understood any entry into the room without permission [including with the sign of “NO PERTURBE”, because “The STF [3] has already pacified understanding in the sense that the hotel room should also be understood as a home and is supported by the constitutional guarantee: "Constitutional protection granted to the home, whose conceptual notion — which is broad — is understood, among other private spaces, the occupied compartment of collective housing (like a simple hotel room)"]. With this situation I did not return even with the maintenance of promotions. The environment became hostile. If I could, I'd give a negative score, but I'd trade it for a time machine and never stay here.
