We have 4 children and have just spent 12 days in Mykonos. We read these reviews before traveling to Buzios and actually tried to change to another pousada but it was not possible. The location could not be better, when you see where other people are staying on the peninsular you realise how fortunate you are to be a 3 minute walk from the best beach, Joao Fernandez. The rooms are OK, beds hard but we slept well every night and the bathrooms are clean with nice hot showers. The breakfast is pretty good, basic but plentiful and fresh. The worst aspect we found was the attitude of the staff on reception, they always looked miserable so our message to the owner is to find staff that don´t mind working in the tourist industry, please !! Oh, and try to find people who at least speak Spanish. I know Brasil is 200 million people but they are surrounded 100% by Spanish-speaking countries and most tourists we saw were Argentinians and Chileans so some knowledge of Spanish would definitely help the experience. The views from the rooms are fantastic and there´s quite a nice pool to dip into after a day on the beach. Anyway, I would recommend this place to others, more than anything else for the location.

stayed here for one night (booked by travel agent) as the Hibiscus Beach was full on our first night in Buzios. The checkin was abrupt and unfriendly. The room was dirty and very old and tired. The beds are not really beds but look like they were built on site out of scrap wood. The mattress on my daughter´s bed - we discovered in the morning - looked like something out of a crack-house. It was grossly stained with sweat and god knows what else. The bathroom was grimy. The airconditioner was loud and clunky. The chair on the tiny balcony was white resin turned almost black with so much dirt on it. There was a layer of grey grime around the waterline on the pool walls. We were happy to check out in the morning and go to the Hibiscus Beach Pousada just across the road. There we had a very comfortable cabina with spectacular views of the sea and a very cheerful and helpful staff. And all for only about $20 more a night.
If you are in Buzios and Mykonos Pousada is your only option, consider a park bench. Its probably cleaner.
