Pirin Golf Hotel & Spa

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and always considered it a wonderful place. Unfortunately, the current management has turned the experience into a complete disappointment. The swimming pools were cold, the level of cleanliness was unacceptable, and the services were extremely overpriced compared to the quality provided. The hotel is clearly no longer managed with the same care and professionalism as before. It is very sad to see such a beautiful place deteriorate so badly. After this experience, we will definitely not be returning.

We had booked a stay in good time and there was promised us a sunny room and like with views to the golf course. We get a room over the hall and restaurant and overlooking the facade of a building and its roof. You wake up to the smell of smoke from guests at the restaurant. When we requested another room we were promised this when the wedding guests of the day had checked out, but on new request we could get a small room with 2 single beds facing a pool and not overlooking the golf course. Because of these weddings there is no access to all exclusive at the turnhouse and it is not clear where you get your lunch on the tour. In the restaurant at the golf club there is dishwashing everywhere after the wedding and the waiters are stressed and angry, as if you are for inconvenience. The golf course is fine. We will definitely not come again.

I wouldn't bother sharing this, but it's the third time it has happened within our friend group. I reserved a "luxury chalet" on booking.com at Pirin Golf - which is offered from Pirin Golf directly (not to be mistaken with the private-owner ads). I received no check in details or further info after paying, so I gave them a call, and they said I need to go to reception in person to get more information i.e. which house it is etc. OK, no problem - we travel to Pirin Golf, and they told us that there was a ventilation problem with the house, so they will offer us an apartment. This is exactly the same excuse they used in the two other cases we know about. The manager was surprised that I didn't want an apartment, asking "is the apartment not up to your taste?" which left me staggered. The scam here is clear - they over-book the houses, and as opposed to calling you to tell you, they advise you to go to reception (letting you travel to the complex), and of course most people will take the apartment as opposed to travelling all the way back home, but we chose to leave, and will be seeking a full reimbursement of the reservation plus travel expenses.
