Cathedral Mountain Lodge

We had stayed here back in 1989 and wanted to stay again. My how this place has grown! The main building is gorgeous, and we enjoyed the delicious breakfasts as well as the one night we had dinner. The cabins have been updated and we had a comfortable stay. What we loved was the peaceful setting by the Kicking Horse River, and the easy access to all that Yoho has to offer, with Banff not far away. Others commented on the train…you are in train country. Honestly we didn’t hear it much at all but we do use white noise for sleep. The staff were absolutely amazing and we felt very well taken care of. We would definitely stay here again!

It is a fantastic place! The cabins are really nice, the main house offers excellent breakfast and dinner. The Kicking Horse River is near by and allows spotting birds and salmon. Hiking trails are fabulous. The freight traffic line is close by, so be aware of train drives in the night.

Upon arrival I was very disappointed to fine our room cold and damp. So much so that the bed linen was quite uncomfortable for my arthritis. For two of our three day stay the water pressure was so low it was impossible to take a bath. Walking around the grounds outside one is often confronted with smells of sewage. Having said that, the support staff were excellent and quite friendly.
