There was an older lady at the front desk named Sarah who really needs customer service training ASAP. She was very condescending and rude. We booked three rooms for my family for my graduation, so we were expecting much better service. Our third day in the hotel, I needed to do laundry and only had quarters. I went to the front desk to see if I could exchange them for loonies. She told me they didn’t have any. I simply asked why, hoping she could maybe offer a solution or suggestion but she responded, “That’s just how it is, it’s not my fault.” I wasn’t blaming her at all! I was just trying to figure out what I could do. The way she spoke to me was unnecessary and very unprofessional. The next day, my family checked in. My brother’s girlfriend made the booking, but my mom’s credit card was being used to pay. The same front desk lady refused it, saying that the person who booked the room had to be the one paying with their own credit card. That didn’t make sense to us. I booked a room for myself and my boyfriend and he paid for it with no issue, so I don’t understand why my family couldn’t do the same. She kept making excuses and didn’t seem sure about what she was doing. Instead of trying to help or clarify things calmly, she just wanted to argue with us. We didn’t even receive an apology for the confusion or inconvenience, which was very frustrating. It was a horrible experience!! I really hope the company looks into her behavior and takes it seriously. We didn’t deserve to be treated that way, we were just there to celebrate and have a good time with my family.

checked in today for our one stay night as we had appointments at the cancer clinic, only to get into our room and it be insanely unclean. The hallway smelled like old smoke, as well as inside our room heavily. When we got in, the beds weren’t tidy, pillows all weird and nothing pulled tight. As we went to open the window for air, we noticed a nasty stain of what looks like men’s bodily fluids on the curtain. Yuck. We also went to pull out the chair to find it not wiped and what looked to be alcohol or some sticky substance all over the chair and table. The cupboard had dust all over it. My mom went to use the washroom and noticed all colors of the stains all over the bathroom door, along with a whole load of fingerprints on the faucet. She even said to me, I shouldn’t be staying here. So I went down and told them we needed to leave as my mom is immunocompromised heavily due to cancer treatment, and they offered a second room to which was also unclean. One of the ladies at the front was lovely and understanding, the other one was not so friendly when she was showing me the other room. As I explained the smell once we got to the second floor, she responded no it doesn’t smell. So I had to laugh because unfortunately it did smell. She made it seem like a huge inconvenience, to which had my mom in tears because she already feels like she is a bother. But it really just came down to my mom not having an immune system and the room was not sanitary. I wouldn’t have stayed in it alone, and my immune system is fine. I appreciate the lady who checked us in as she was super understanding and didn’t hesitate one bit to help us cancel. Five stars for her!! As for the other staff and the quality of hotel, I give the rating seen.

I’m not sure why they have bad reviews. We had a great stay there for 3 nights ( and I travel a lot): 1. They have a pool with a slide for kids and a hot tub. 2. They have a small fitness room. 3. They have a guest laundry in the basement (you’ll need 5 of the $1 Canadian coins. 4. Ample parking. 5. Our room had 2 queen beds, desk, 2 chairs, A/C, comfy beds, 4 pillows per bed. 6. Shower was nice. 7. No airport shuttle but they can call a cab for you. 8. Breakfast with eggs, sausage, waffles, yogurt, muffins, juice, coffee, tea and fruit. There is a Denny’s a block away also. 9. Right across the street from the Red Line, which took us to the BMO center and Stampede Park. 10. Pleasant staff. Yes it is dated, but what do you really NEED?
