To preface this review: yes, I have tried contacting the hotel directly regarding my concerns. They responded to my email initially, but doubted my recollection of events and then, after saying that a manager would call me, I haven't heard back in nine days (despite three more emails to them to check in). I have given fair opportunity for them to contact me prior to writing this review.
We recently had two rooms booked at the hotel, one room for two nights, and one room for just the second of those nights for family that was joining later.
We checked into our first room and were struck by how filthy the floor was. We walked around in socks for a bit but when we saw how grimy the bottoms of our socks instantly became, we decided to just wear shoes the entire time. Definitely off-putting, but we could tolerate a dirty floor for a couple nights.
The second and more egregious concern came the first morning when I realized that I hadn't packed toothbrushes for my two kids. My husband was taking them down for breakfast anyway, so I asked him to ask the front desk for a couple toothbrushes.
He returned to the room holding two unwrapped and mismatched toothbrushes. It struck me as a bit odd, but I was preoccupied with getting the family ready for a wedding that three of us were in, so I didn't pause to look closer.
It wasn't until my husband went to give the toothbrushes to the kids that he noticed they also looked used. And then, when he looked at the handles, saw that one had "Toilet" written on it in black marker.
We were absolutely horrified and disgusted. So many concerns - why were these even in the front desk supplies? How many other items were these "Toilet" brushes touching and contaminating? Are other guests being given toothbrushes from the same place?
We immediately threw them in the trash and scrubbed our hands and every surface they may have touched.
We were extremely tight on time due to the wedding, so I didn't go to the front desk right away, thinking I'd go down later in the day. However, by the time we were finished with the wedding, we were so exhausted and I couldn't handle the thought of another night in this hotel, so we threw our things in the vehicle and just drove the 3.5 hours home to our own clean beds, floors, and toiletries.
So we only stayed one night in the room that was booked for two nights, and didn't even stay in the other room that was booked for one night (our other family also decided to just do the late night trek home rather than stay).
I fully realize this is something I should have immediately gone to the front desk about. However, due to being overwhelmed by our responsibilities and timeline for the day, I didn't do that.
I do believe I have given fair opportunity for the hotel to respond to my emails, and I honestly don't think they realize the gravity of how disgusting this experience was.
